No one said Cotto doesn't have skills...but in terms of versitility and dynamics PAC has the edge...Cotto has all the physical advantages where PAC holds the talent and natrual gift advantage. Speed vs Power....Boxer vs Puncher....GREAT little man vs Very good Big man. Even fight anyway you look at it with UNBIASED eyes.

Cotto is more boxer than puncher. He isnt slow at all. Throws great combinations. Moves great around the ring. Pacman as the advantage in speed. Neither is a defensive genius. Pacman will take plenty of damage if the fight were to happen. And Hatton will soften him up.

poor pac, always being paired with ever bigger opponents. really a huge testament to how good he really is.

i suppose it only stops when he raises his arm and tiptoes, and his gloves does not reach the other guys chin.

You're right....neither are defensive wizards but PAC by all means has more dynamics including superior foot work and IMO ring generalship.....while he isn't a "in the pocket" type of defensive genius he's a "mover" who creates opportunity and eliminates chances for offense coming his way. By darting in and out, lateral movement, showing angles and circling all the while keeping up his punch output. Its a lot of dynamics for his oppoenets to adjust to. You might be right...he might take damage...hatton may sofften him up....but best believe Both Cotto and Hatton ...win , loose or Draw will know they've been in a real fight as well.

Agreed. I would be shocked if Freddy Roach let Pacquiao anywhere near Cotto.

Fighting De La Hoya, who was way past his best, is one thing, but Cotto is an entiely different proposition altogether. Not to mention a much more dangerous one.

Cotto would hurt Manny with jabs for crying out loud.

Cotto would make pacman quit in 4 rounds. Pac came real close to quitting in the first morales fight. I saw it in his eyes.

    cotto TKO 3
pac pisses blood for a month

pac cant take a punch. de la hoya landed one clean punch the whole fight..no way he goes without taking a couple hard shots across that little head and they will all be following solid body blows.

tbh i cant see pac having a good time vs cotto,
i think the likely tactic for cotto would be what margo did to him which is back him up and cut off the ring, cotto took some punishment from margo and his chin is not in question. Can pac keep away from the ropes? or can cotto back him up?
i dont think this fight will happen anyway

    Great guess on the catchweight.

The suggestion of a catchweight says alot about the risk factor of Pac going up to fight Cotto back then, even after Pac-DLHoya, Cotto-Margarito.

These following posters sure thought it Pac was biting off more than he can chew-

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

I think this thread classifies as another classic Pac fantasy fight thread
