What exactly are you on? This is some pure ignorance. Banks may beat Adamek soon making him the top guy at cruiser. Hopkins and Dawson are the top LMW's. Don't count out Taylor at SMW. Also got Ward and Dirrel coming up through the ranks. Pavlik is the MW champion. He beat the man who beat the man. Who has Abraham fought? Paul Williams is as good as anyone at jr MW and we got the beast Kirkland coming up. We got Berto as a solid WW and Mosley is the man in that division. Technically Cotto is American too if you actually know geography. We got some good young fighters at jr WW, including Holt, Bradley and rising star Victor Ortiz. Juan Diaz will be undisputed champion should he beat JMM and if you did not know due to ignorance..he's American. I'd say we're doing just fine as far as boxing.
Pavlik is probably the biggest American name out there at present. The decline of boxing over there in the usa is breathtakingly sad! By the way I quite disagree with you that cruiser weight is a weak division.Quite the opposite the best cruiser division he have had for many years in my opinion.
not really...boxing in britain is going through a boom atm...german boxing is excellent as well...and here in ireland things are looking rosey compared to recent times
This thread is borderline ******ed. America is not always going to dominate boxing, and it isn't as though, American boxers are down and out. Times change, and as pointed out previously by Cash_718 and Jeff M, there are current American champions, and contenders, with many more on the way. Other countries are prospering very well in the sport as well, and that's great, why should we argue with that, makes it all more competitive.
Great is a little tricky. But plenty of top fighters on the scene atm have had good amateur records. Wasn't PBF a silver medalist and Oscar de la Hoya a gold winner? More currently Calzaghe and Froch i know had decent amateur careers. But my point about the amateur thing was that if america are struggling at the lower, grass roots, up and comers level then how are they going to fair once those fighters mature into pro's over the next 10 years or so. A good amateur obviously doesn't garantee of successful pro (A-Farce & A Mere Con as of late) but surely it's an indicator.
The fact that this thread was even made shows how high a standard American Boxing is on. Just because we dont have a dominant champion in EVERY division means its in **** state. England has one dominant champion in one division. What does that say about the state of boxing over there?
