It's never come up so far in his career. Oh, except the one time where he deliberately carried that guy for twelve rounds with hardly a right hand thrown in anger just to prove he could go 12 rounds...
No one expected Thomson? It was Hayes 11th fight trying to win a world title.. that shows balls. Most fighters have about 20 fights just to pad up their name. Haye didn't.
I'm a big fan of Marty, but saying he could beat Haye is just unrealistic. He's too slow and sloppy; Haye would just move out the way and throw in a few bombs in now and again. Marty would get seriously beaten down, and his corner would probably retire him after 7 or 8 punishing rounds.
Haye wouldn't gain anything from this fight, There is no money and people would say he is only fighting an old cab driver. Rogan should fight someone like Ruiz or Rahman.
Dont highlight bits of my post and then qoute them piece meal. I said NO ONE EXPECTED THOMPSON TO DERAIL HAYE. It was common knowledge Thompson was shot to bits. Props to Haye for taking him on so early but Haye blew his wad looking for the KO and subsequently was KO`ed himself through sheer exhaustion. Rookie mistake? Most definitly. But his chin and penchant for poor training ethics was highlighted by the Lolenga Mock fight. Mock wasnt even a cruiserweight..
:yikes Seriously man, its pretty clear who hits harder and it aint Skelton. I would even say Rogan throws harder punches than Skelton.
Rogan would be the clear underdog, but it looks like he likes that role. There's a good chance Rogan could score another upset. Okay okay, Haye is faster, younger, technically better, probably hits harder too, while Rogan is just a 37 years old former taxi driver, so the outcome should be clear... - oh wait a minute, how old was Carl Thompson again?
Carl Thompson was a former world champion ergo better than Rogan. David Haye was green as hell and beat the **** out of Thompson before being stopped due to exhaustion. That fight would have no baring on this fight.
So why hasn't his glass jaw been shattered more often? 1 defeat so far, if his chin is that **** by that reckoning he has been hit with what, 7 punches in his professional career?. Monte couldn't get to Haye to KO him (though i thought the KD was legit) but a lumbering no technique domestic level fighter can? Now we both know Monte ain't **** but he craps all over Rogan. Haye has been down a few times at cruiser but your average cruiser is a bit more fleet of foot than Rogan, I just can't see Rogan getting to him. I will watch all Rogans fights, his fighting spirit and chin make him watchable at a domestic level but even he couldn't take bombs non-stop. People thought Margo's chin was undentable but Mosley showed if you keep hammering away it will crack. And the reason I think Haye blows him out early and not out-boxes him? I don't think he is that good of a boxer and his stamina is questionable. I am not particularly impressed with haye, I think he is decent to watch due to his power and poor chin but he will be found out by any decent heavy who can a punch
this whole rogan thing is really kind of shocking. here you have a tough cab driver with lots of heart and rudimentary skills who steps up from fighting guys with negative records to beating audley (he sucks, but still) and then ko (!) skelton. especially the skelton ko surprises me, he seemed like such a huge, immovable bear and now that rogan has ko'd him you wonder what is next for him.
The Skelton train it as the end of its ride. Should have stopped years ago. Skelton isnt even on the fringes of world class. To be fair he`s hard a marvelous career since switching from the K1/MMA.
Much as i Like Martin Rogan, He won't beat David Haye. Haye is a Class above Skelton and Harrison but it won't be a blow out in a few rounds it's going to take more than that to shift Rogan. Skelton was snapping his head back with some seriously heavy punches and he walked right through them so Haye's going to have to box him and wear him down. Rogan was ****ed after about 7 round's, the effort he gave was outstanding but he was looking out of it before a second wind and Skeltons bad tactics finally ended the fight. I feel Skelton's downfall ultimately came from opting to stand inside and slug it out with Rogan rather than box him at range. It didnt work and sapped all the strength out of a desperately aging fighter. If Haye fight's him, he has far superior skills and he should use them to not get dragged into a macho slugfest with Rogan because that's Rogan's best and only chance.
The words Skelton and Box dont go together. Skelton cant box worth a lick. Remember when he got on his toes vs Danny Williams? What a awful sight that was.
