I have been getting a pain in my shoulder for about a week... It isn't like a rip or tear type feeling it is right above my shoulder blade and feels as though someone is sticking a needle into the muscle or something every 20/30 seconds...

Didn't think much of it, but today I was doing bads and couldn't get a great deal of power... hands started hurting... took my gloves off and my fingers were shaking like crazy...

Guessing it is just overtraining a bit? Couple days off?

P.S. Hello RDJ, seeing as you read every thread in this forum ;)

I've had the same problem for a couple months. My shoulders started clicking when I rotate it now too, sounds like a cement mixer. Time to see a physio.

Is it the scapula, or clavicle?

I've been preaching to train the rotator cuff muscles of the scapula in order to prevent this sort of injury. Be sure to get it looked at.

Train the muscles of the rotator cuff often, and as a slow twitch muscle. This means several sets of 25-30+ reps. DO NOT emphasize weight, emphasize perfect form and repetitions. I will say it again to clear up any questions.. GET IT CHECKED OUT, and don't attempt to train or rehab until a qualified doctor, or trainer tells you that you can do so.

DO NOT train for 8-12 reps as the article says, that means an intent to train for a faster hypertrophy.. You train these muscles as slow twitch muscles, with more than 20 repetitions.

    sounds like a pinched nerve
i'd start iceing your back and leigh off the upper body exercise for a while.
maybe even see a doctor. But i'd start on the ice pack on the back very soon. Do 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off and repete. Do that for the next couple of days and see if that helps clear things up a bit.

if things clear up, then in a bout a week or so, start rehabing that area. My medicine ball routine I have laid out on my site would be a very good routine to help rehab that. It's at www.wrkf.us in the area on the left marked book2
