:good power would definitely take places..even his fights with holyfield, here is still power in his punches..he just do not have the stamina
That's a damn good point...and for him to do as well as he did when he returned from such a lapse is quite laudable.
Who knows, It could have worked against him too. Those dudes probably don't care how bad you are cause if you **** with them they will have you shanked next week. It could have happened to put him in his place. pure speculation obviously.
Well, we'll be able to find out soon enough.. Tyson is currently shopping his memoirs detailing his prison time. I'm really curious to hear about what it was like for him in there. I can't imagine even the hard-core prisoners were willing to give him a hard time in there. I'm sure he didn't have much trouble, and was probably pretty well liked and respected. It's not like he was some wall-street, white collar criminal..
He as the same fighter, and matter of fact I thought he packed more power. Tyson in 96 was still at his prime. He looked awesome disposing bums like Mcneely, Mathis and journeymen Bruno and Seldon.
Tyson in 96 = Prime? atsch Power isn't every thing. Just cause he still had KO power don't mean he was prime. In 96, Tyson was clearly slowing down. Anyone who followed Tyson's career knows this. Tyson no longer threw combinations, no longer sustained the same head movement, reflexes were obviously fading, he was not the same fighter. It's clear as day.
lets forget physical for a second... i really doubt tyson was mentally the same person when he got out of jail
I think Tyson was better in 1991 than 1996. He fought Ruddock and looked a little slower and sloppier than his title years in 1986-1989 but he still hung in there and had desire. In 1996 it seems like his desire went down a lot from 1991. And then later on in 2000 and later it seems like his tactic in a fight was to give it a good few first rounds and try to stop his opponent before he got tired.
There were guys that tried to **** with him in jail. He knocked them out. Tyson was from the streets. He still is. As they say you can take a kid out of the ghetto but you cant take the ghetto out of the kid.
atsch Dude, no way was tyson the same fighter in 96 as he was pre prison. No way. Slower in the hand and footspeed department, refused to throw combinations, no head movement, and didnt jab his way inside. He looked like a different man.
He DID threw combinations. Re-watch the Holyfield fight, especially the 1st one. And no, he wasn't slowing down. People only said he was slowing down when he got beat by Holyfield. The Tyson who looked awesome aginst Mcneely looks exactly the guy who beat Michael Spinks. Head movement and a lot of bobbing and weaving there. Tyson looked sluggish against Holmes and was getting hit a lot by Bruno and Tucker in the late 80s. Was he past his prime back then then? Does that mean his prime only lasted 1 year? The culture here in ESB is that when a fighter losses, he is not prime anymore. Amazing really. Many are saying Barrera was not at his prime back in 2003 against Pac. I bet if Barrera beat Pac, everybody would have been saying that Barerra was at his prime up to 2006 when he schooled Juarez.
