Just because Mosley beat Margarito it doesnt mean Floyd Mayweather would have.....

Yeah, but Cotto refused to fight inside with Margarito and was never willing to be close enough to clinch. I know Cotto recently said he "would never clinch," but he tried to do so in the Margarito fight, I think around the 7th. He grabbed Tony's arm and tried to initiate a clinch but Tony punched him off. There was a very real reason why Cotto never worked Margarito's body, it's not like he just forgot to throw bodypunches like a lot of journalists (Rafael) think. To effectively work the body you have to be inside, and Cotto fought that entire fight on the move. He was brilliant offensively, but he wasn't willing to fight on the inside hence no bodyshots.

And Mosely effectively worked the clinch, but to imply that's the ONLY reason he beat Margarito is off base in my opinion. Shane beat Margarito at every facet of the game, he even beat Margarito at his own game.

Cotto isnt Floyd. He fought like Floyd but he got hit too much doing it, that is the reason that he got beat. Margo wouldnt be able to land on Floyd like he did with Cotto. It would be more like him taking the beatting that Mosley gave him and landing almost nothing in return.

Margo isnt a skilled fighter, and with pure boxers he will always have a tough time. If he dont have the size advantage he will have a tough time. Go back and look at his loses, in everyone of them he was fighting a skilled boxer or a guy that was his size or bigger.

 

PBF likely wouldn't KO Margo like Mosley did but he would embarress him him even more, FFS Margo just got outclassed and KTFO by an old man. PBF is definetly better than a 37, soon to be 38 yr old SSM.

Margarito is good at what he does, and against some fighters it works very well. Mosley figured him out, went to work and destroyed him. Just because Floyd cannot do exactly what Mosley can, doesn't mean he can't destroy Margo in the same manner. This isn't a matter of what Floyd and Mosley can do to Margo, it's what they can prevent him from doing to them. Richardson and Mosley had Margo from step 1, they saw what he was and knew how THEY HAD TO beat him and could beat him. Floyd and Roger would do the same ****ing thing, but they would decide how FLOYD HAS TO BEAT HIM. Mosley isn't an elite "defender", he has never been that great at slipping shots or hitting without getting hit back. And he BARELY got rubbed. Floyd Mayweather, like him or not, is the best defender alive. When you put a guy who had to take 3 to get 1 against Cotto, and had trouble finding Shane and put him in the ring with Floyd....he's gonna get embarassed. There won't be any magic tricks or miracles going on here. It's just BOXING and it's simple to see. Floyd and Margo are not on even close to the same level. Yes it has ALOT to do with it. Shane was able to hit him and get out without getting hit back.....sound familiar??? Shane saw his offense and read his next move.....sound familiar???? And Floyd isn't Cotto or Cintron, he knows how and when to clinch and is very crafty in the clinch. He'll get the better of the clinch, just like he did against Hatton and just like Mosley did against Margo :deal
