Prime Gatti vs. Prime Marquez 135

Marquez wins every single time.

This is pretty much Marquez vs. a punching bag.

Not the punching bag that KTFO'd zelenoff, either.

 

He can take Pac's punch, which means he can probably handle Gatti's. But even assuming he couldn't, Gatti does not throw a zillion punches a la Diaz, nor does he have the level of skill that Diaz has in throwing said punches. At his very best, Gatti was a fairly athletic bomber, not one to throw the fast, compact punches necessary to hit JMM. He throws wide shots, which would be counter-fodder for JMM. And besides that, his defense is worse than Juan Diaz's. It would be a slaughter.

And Marquez didn't get mauled against Diaz. Diaz didn't step back much, was busy, and did land his share, but Marquez was landing the cleaner, more effective shots throughout the fight(and more of them), which the ultimate result of the fight made even more clear. The general consensus is that the fight was a point either way prior to the stoppage.

 

Gatti doesn't fight anything like Diaz.

While I agree that he had better power, Diaz was able to connect early because he overwhelmed Marquez' defense with the sheer volume of his output. Gatti does not fight at that pace and he doesn't put his punches together as well as Diaz does nor does he possess Pacquiao's speed. I think Marquez puts on a clinic.

 

With Buddy Mcgirt in the courner, he'll pull the plug after 6 or 7 rounds. marquez has to many skills for Gatti.

 

And also considere the fact that Gatti is like a catcher. He take a lot of punches to land his. Like when he fought Manfredy or Wilson Rodriguez.

 

Marquez walks all over him and puts him down anytime he chooses to after the 3rd round.

 

Diaz is a higher class of fighter than Gatti. You gotta love Arturo for his heart, but he was no classical boxer and he would get ate up by JMM. If JMM can take Pac's shots, he can take Gatti's, and he would be landing against Thunder at a frightening rate.

 

Yes..... Gatti was a good fighter at one point, world class, but with a lot of flaws that JMM could expose. I'm sure he'd make a good fight out of it, but eventually JMM would take over with his superior skill and probably KO Gatti before the final bell rings.

i feel a prime gatti has a solid chin and jmm can't ko this guy, i also think that gatti would just take jmm's punches but jmm would take gatti's punches as well. it would be a war. gatti would respond to jmm's counter in a way nobody did before...JMM by UD
