he lost via split decisioan against Nehomar Cermeno the scorecard where 117-111 for mijares and 113-115,112-116 for cemeño..
Personally i think tat Mijares suffered from the fight with Darchinyan... he was slower and running al night, also he look a little shot.

Weird decision overall 117-111 ? im venezuelan and i thought it was a draw i guess cermeño was able to hurt mijares at some point in the 8th but he was running on the 9th and 10th round i think there should be a rematch.

    That's a shocking result.

With hindsind, he should have taken a tune-up.

It's not easy rebounding from a devastating kayo defeat & you certainly don't do it in one fight.

Not in the competitive lower weight divisions anyway.

I agree, but he was obviously a bit better than advertised.

He should have fought a garden variety clubfighter with no power.

    again totally agree !!
i think he was overconfident ...
thats a thing i have never liked from him...
he was running and smiling like darchs fight, arce and all the bums in mexico that he fought the last 2 years ...

    Well ... it depends...
from what i have watching theast two fights he feel much more the punches since Arces fight, and being almost Ko'ed in this fight and looking bad in a few moments by 62.5 % KO'er can make you think that mijares is now shot...
BTW his face was uglier than when he face Vic

BTW Cermeño is from Venezuela... i dont think he should be considered a top 5
theres a lot of best fighters in that division... i think that he was lucky that he has a shot against a well knw boxer..
but in my opinion he doesnt deserve a top 5 at 118
