Think this could happen if Mitchell beats Foster JR. He is highly ranked by the WBO, could be seen as him getting 'Revenge' for Cook, who is his friend, and Cook was also the stumbling block in Mitchell getting a shot, as being stablemates they didn't want to fight each other.

How does it go? I can't be sure. Cook rocked Martinez, so I'm sure Mitchell could get to him, and hurt him. Cook looked to be getting smashed up badly, and Martinez isn't a noted puncher. Mitchell lets him take too much then he needs to but has shown himself to be tough and durable.

If he keeps disciplined for some rounds and mixes it up with his aggressive brawling, he COULD beat Martinez. But he might not.

Good fight, and I think it will probably happen.

As soon as the fight was over I said to my mates this should be the fight for Mitchell now.

I've always rated Mitchell as better than Cook hopefully this is his chance to take the step up.

Mitchell has a good chance in this fight, he is, I believe, a higher class than Cook (who was doing a good job for the first 3 rounds) and I think could win a decision against Martinez.

Mitchell would get KO'd. He has a good chin and I really like him, hope he goes far but his defence is awful. Sure he can take a punch but you can't just keep letting guys at world level punch you in the face. Margarito was supposed to have a cast iron jaw but Mosley was just landing on him all night and it got to him in the end. If he fights a couple more times and shows some improvement then I might change my mind.

this is the next logical step for mitchell i was hoping cook would loose as he was blocking off mitchell who i feel is a far superior fighter.

martinez wouldnt be able to knock him out i see mitchell winning a close ud or a sd

Cook was beating him easily until that punch when instead of holding on and trying to recover a little he goes into a war with Martinez.

True but I was just trying to mak the point that his chin might be good but there's only so much punishment he can take :good

There are still questions about Martinez obviously and I thought Cook had him trouble at one point but Mitchell hasn't fought for ages and still has a lot to prove as well for me.

Yeah I know what you meant :)

Martinez is not a massive puncher, but he seems to be tough and ready to come forward. He would be able to tag Mitchell more often than Cook, but then Mitchell has a much stronger chin, so I feel Mitchell would go the distance and possibly win a decision, because Martinez did not look world class in those first three rounds (maybe a slow starter?).

Anyway I think it would be a true 50-50 fight if it was made.
