And on what basis are you claiming MAB was shot? At least I can back some claim of him not being shot on the basis of being in competitive fights with the P4P4 #1 and 2, one 2 yrs ago and the other 1 yr. ago. Agreed Barrera was past his best no question, but the word shot is a little exaggeration.
he wasnt competetive with pac, and to fairly combat your claim, they werent p4p #1,2 at the time. 2 very good technicians duking it out for 12 rounds will always end up fairly competetive. marquez was better and proved it by winning the fight. objectively, as a fan of both men, this fight really does nothing to damage or enhance either.
He wasn't even tested for it to be a good performance, if anything Khan fought the way he usually does by jumping in with punches and jumping out. We wanted to see if he will be able to keep it up as he already showed poor stamina in the past and he wasn't really tested to do so. Barrera wasn't just cut BADLY by an accidental headbutt in the first round but he's also 35 and way past his prime, Khan couldn't ask for more to look good.
I just watched that youtube video of the fight, and Khan was huge compared to Barrera. Coupled with the way the fight was stopped, and Barrera's ring age, and it deserves little respect, if any.
Ugly win! If Khan did what Prescott did to him I would have been impressed! But beating a shot MAB by for example 12 rd UD or SD would not earn him any respect.
Barrera has about 70 fights in him and he has been boxing professionally for 20 years. It is time to hang em up. I agree that it should have been an NC too.
Guess we have different definition of good performance. Khan was winning all of the rounds on my card. I'm not going to put hypotheticals, MAB was cut, and they let it continue. MAB couldn't get inside and I thought the only way he could win the fight was a KO from a counter. Cut was bad it should have been a NC, and I agree he's past his best and two weight divisions over, but I don't know what Barrera has left in the tank. I don't know what the odds were, but the results from the poll was somewhere around 50/50, so I guess people thought he had a legit chance to win the fight.
Khan looked superb in the early rounds. He used his height and reach advantage well. Cut or no cut, Khan was winning the exchanges. But we only saw the first half of the fight and I'm not sure if Khan can maintain that work rate even at the later rounds. Remember that even Chris John looked superb in the early rounds against Juarez but he gave away the later rounds. John's stamina betrayed him. I have yet to see Khan's stamina in high level fights.
Everyone scored it all rounds for Khan, you're not telling me anything I don't know here with this post. I picked Barrera over Khan in this fight based on specific points which I made clear in another post as we discussed the topic. Of course I was proven wrong with the result but there are reasons behind it and those reasons are not excuses they are actual facts that did take place in the ring. The cut is what totally shut Barrera off in my opinion and put him out of the fight, which is why I said that Khan was hardly tested here and it's not Khan nor Barrera's fault, it's just something that happens in boxing. Khan got the job done regardless and we're now set to move on. I'm looking forward to other fights as this one, based on what happened and my opinion, proved nothing.
at least he wans sparked out in the 1st round aging. he is only 22 still and now has MAB on his record in the win colum
Excuse??? There was a thread here asking if respect is due to Khan if he beats MAB . . . . and I said YES. :deal If MAB doesn't have a cut . . . KHAN will drop like a sack of potato before the eigth round. :yep
how khan gets any respect ,out of this win, is beyond me.. he won against a shot barrera, who was well above his best weight.. this fight proves absolutely nothing..
