    Say a B level fighter like Luis Collazo fought a martial arts MASTER at the sport of boxing with gloves and only boxing rules, what do you think would be the result?

    I'm talking about kung fu and many other Asian disciplines where they do not focus primarily on kicks but a good deal also on punches. For instance, i know that a tae kwon do master would have no chance because they focus mostly on kicks.

    Please vote.

    I have so much respect for kung fu and what they go through on a daily basis for their training. Most disciples and masters have amazing reflexes and hand speed as children with exceptional agility and talent are accepted in most schools. Just something to think about.

    But still, i think the boxer whoops dat ass but it would be so interesting to see.

    Well, I wouldn't put my money on Collazo, that's for sure...if there master level then we're tlakiing power, speed, technique, conditioning, and durability, they have it all

    Gloves or no gloves I'd take the martial artist....also you should watch the show Human Weapon, that's kind of what it's about, they show some bad motha****az on that show

    In 1975 in Houston there was an event entitled "Karate Masters versus Boxing Professionals and International Martial Arts Demonstrations", which featured three stand up matches as part of the card, and for those wishing to know, the results of the fights were as follows;

    Termite Watkins KO-4 Chong Lee (2 time Korean national TKD champion)

    Gene Wells KO-2 Dong Wook Lee (reigning world champion and two time Korean national TKD champion)

    Mike Quarry TKO-1 Yong Tae Lee (TKD Grand Master, who quit the match to try to save face and stormed out of the ring in frustration due to his ineffectivenss against the boxer)

    There were also other competitions pitting lesser known boxers against traditional standup martial artists during that time (Karate, Kickboxing, TKD was fairly popular during those days and was even featured on network television at times), and while the TMA won the odd one, it was the boxers who took the vast majority of them into taking apx 9 out of every 10.

    As far as Jeet Kune Do goes, lets take a look how pretty the following JKD expert, Tony Valente, looks in the prefight video of him swinging the chucks, hitting the bag, etc. Then take a look at the actual fight itself, and notice the difference and how ineffective the JKD fighter was in using his style in actual competition;

    Theres your answer. :good

    B fighter will win this one if A has no experience at boxing at all. However, given three-four fights before, everything can happen in the ring. I remember both Sahaprom and Muangsurin beating pretty decent "B" fighters in their 3rd and 4th pro fights to capture the titles....

    No matter how you try and dress up this shop worn piece of crap, this thread is still a fail. Boxing is part of martial arts, so, as always, styles make fights. Depends on the two..... :patsch

    I specifically said not tae kwon do or any disciplines where they focus primarily on kicks.

    I did. I watched the one where they put a few masters from a few disciplines including a boxer and they measured who threw with the most force and the boxer beat them all.
