I'm a big Lewis fan but he was part of the problem with splitting the belts. He refused to fight Byrd & Ruiz..............both were easily winnable fights too.

Perhaps but he was the true, linear champ. Also, you have to remember that Lewis held his three belts when they were becoming marginalised by the TV Networks. HBO don't even mention them by name and wanted Grant over Ruiz for obvious reasons.

A Klitschko needs to unify the three main belts to establish new lineage. After that I wouldn't care if they gave one or two up to avoid pointless mandatories.

He didn't have to, those belts were his by right and thats all that matters. They would have got splintered whatever when he retired.

Its not so much holding on to the belts, its unifying them in the first place. You do that you dont have to prove you are the true HW champion no more, you have that recognition, that lineage. Particulalry up at HW.

Anyway, you fancy addressing my original point?:hey

There would be 4belt holders after Lewis retired anyway as no one beat him and each belt would have a seperate title fight

I agree but with the different promoters & BS politics it's very hard to get either WBA champ in the ring.

The WBC isn't much better with their back to back to back mandatory defenses.

It's simply not in their best interests to have unification fights. I blame Bowe for the same reasons.

Tyson was part of the solution since he actually unified, but those days were easier not because of the level of competition, but because of the level of politics involved.

True, but for a time while Lewis was the real champion, Ruiz & Byrd held belts. That's still part of the problem.

let's be real now, vitali's resume is pretty embarrasing.

he's beaten very few fighters worth caring about.

The WBA have behaved pathetically ever since they stripped Lewis. I'd be happy to declare someone the new linear champ, without the alpahbets involved, if one and two fought each other. The problem is, the guys occupying those spots are brothers!

I totally agree about the level of politics also. It's a sorry state of affairs.

The hell? Vitali Klit is already all-time top-10 at heavyweight..... WTF is up with top-25??

Vitali Klit at 6' 7" & 250 solid pounds of muscle with and iron fist or two, and a rock jaw, IS a great fighter........ Jesus H.

OKAY! Klit doesn't have 20 title defenses under his belt or on his resume.... SO WHAT!?!? Neither did Sonny Liston or George Foreman..... Vitali Klit is the goods.......

have you ever watched boxing beyond the 2000's?

to be an all time top10 as you say, it takes more than beating danny willams, rahman, corrie sanders, a big fat sam peter who went 24 rounds with a fat middleweight in james toney

I prefer Vitali to Wlad, i think he is a better boxer and a much more entertaining boxer. Wlad wins a lot of fight by throwing a jab and not taking any risks and wearing boxer down, then when there tired he throws ones and twos. Vitali can mix it up he is agressive, he throws combos and looks more natural in the ring.

I believe Vitali would beat Wlad, but Wlad's style is better for winning fights.

-D.Wlliams ko'd tyson(tyson didnt look old or shopworn in that bout either.he was throwing vicious bombs round after round but williams was "THAT Tough"!
-Rahman.i just checked boxrec.vk and rahman never fought.
    -L.Donald.excellent boxer that vk overwhelmed.
-K.Johnson.feared slugger that vk took out in 2.
-C.Sanders was very highly regarded at the time of the v.k bout.he was scoring ko's left and right.(watch his highlights sometime.that guy was legit back in the day!...but v.k made him look like child's play which he certainly wasnt!)
-Sam Peter is a bit less impressive but consider that vk was coming off a 4 year absence.he woulda gotten peter outta there in half the time if otherwise.
-J.C.Gomez.Easily beat the highly regarded and very awkwardly defensive minded southpaw.

VK beating these guys and the way he beat em was quite an indication
of greatness from what i saw.

oh,and no fanboy here...i just call it as i see it. ; )
