That may be the case, but can you imagine a prime RJJ getting smoked by Tarver and Johnson in the way he did, and that was five years ago.

RJJ is finished as a top level fighter and Dawson would walk through him and KO him.

perhaps, i followed the rise and witnesses the fall of roy jones for the last fifteen years with some kind of blinders on. did i miss something? what undeniable threat did omar sheika--the most notorious underperformer-when-it-counts in the game--bring into the ring against jones? omar sheika is a nice guy, i'll give him that, but he was, at his best, a choke-artist fringe contender that was lined up as easy bait for titlists who wanted an easy defense. at this late stage of boxing decrepitude, sheika moves slower than mud, looks like a spent mule, lost what little pop he ever had in his gloves and is slurring his speech and eating punches to put food on the table. it's sad and the man has my sincerest sympathies. what about such a fight tells you that roy is again knocking on the door of the top spot on the pound-for-pound list? he looked a little quicker than he has in recent fights, i'll give you that, but he is still a massively diminished version of himself at his pound-for-pound best. i am as nostalgic as the next guy, but...come on. any such announcement is as absurd as it is embarassing. i never expected to hear such foolishness from anyone but roy jones...and even he doesn't sound so sure about it.

Jones and the words Pound for pound belong in the lounge nowadays.

i don't know about the rest of you...but, in all seriousness, i would look forward at still developing prospects like linares, gamboa, mares and dirrell before i would look back at roy jones' shadow that fights now where the man, himself, used to dominate the ranks if i were trying to force a big square peg through the little round hole that leads to pound for pound status. my point is, none of those guys should be considered, but jones least of all. his day came and went. he was the best, for years...if only he had taken the fights that might have let his talents be dually challenged as to push him into the discussions of all time greats.

I'll skip to the end without reading all of this. Just watched the fight. :rofl Hometown ref pulls plug before the opponent has a chance to land a glass breaker. :patsch Can you say FARCE?

You're another bragging nut hugging idiot.

Why will that victory over Sheika propel Jones into #5 P4P when both Jones and Sheika are not even inside the top 10 rankings?

    Pathetic. :-(
