http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-xLbP8lCYY&feature=related for those who missed Peak Calzaghes hardest fight. Many had Reid winning (Reid was coming of a loss to Sugar biy malinga)
Calzaghe was dominating till he injured his left hand in the fight in about round four. Unlike Mayweather against Castillo, Calzaghe was still able to edge through. Reid was a super talented fighter (as his olympic medal suggests) and his genuine hatred and jealousy toward Calzaghe enabled him for one time only to put it all together, but a one armed Calzaghe still managed to pull through against this beast.
:rofl:rofl:roflatsch Thomas Ulrich had an Olympic medal too, in the Atlanta games. Adamek shows how to beat of those kinds of opponents (KO6, won 4 out of 5 rounds in Germany).
I'll call you out for your scorecard then... Anytime you like, pm me it if it takes you awhile. Cheers. :good
This fight is one of the many reasons I just can't understand guys like Toffeejack who think Calzaghe ever had the skill/ability of a Jones or a Hopkins. I don't recall Jones (prime 93-03) or Hopkins (prime 97-04) ever going life and death with a fighter the calibre of Robin Reid. Jones had trouble with Montell Griffin first time out, but had turned the fight around and was pushing for a stoppage when he was DQ'd. Then Jones KO'd him in 1 in a rematch. He never lost till Tarver after Jones had burned down from hw and shot. Hopkins drew with Mercado in '95 but by all accounts this was largely due to high altitude conditions. Hopkins spanked him in a rematch and never lost again till he was 40. Joe Calzaghe was closer to Robin Reid in terms of skill/ability than he was to peak Roy Jones.
..........Much as I'm charmed to have the ESB Calzaghe fanclub's answer to party member Joseph Goebbels question how I could score this fight for Reid - it is you, Minister Of Propoganda, that needs to show and prove why the man in his ****ing avatar won this fight. Let's see your card, bucky. Then we'll talk.
