question for you all here. has Irish boxing, at any stage in history, ever been this strong or close to being this strong??? I sincerely doubt it has. There have been some great names down the years but now at this moment in time we have it all.

A WORLD CHAMPION (thats just fun type) in Bernard.
A couple of lads boxing in the US who are touted as the next big thing (Lee and Duddy)
Lots of good level fighters with belts waiting to step up to the next (McCloskey, Macklin, Rogie)
Lots of up and comers looking to start making a move (Murray, Pajo Hyland, Lindsay etc..)
A few promising but somewhat unknown quantaties (Spike, Dean Byrne etc..)
A heap of really good amateurs.
And we can even throw in the bet P4P female amateur in the world.

Surely this is by far and away as good as it has ever been by a long, long way

alright boys.this is my first post although ive been readin the thread 4 a while.ive spent 3 and a half years outta d last 5 in st pats and cork prison.watchin bernard dunne recently reignited my torch for boxing.me and my girlfriend cried as he was presented wit d title.{ i was d mog in block a with d white shirt that couldnt control himself}wen i got home this morning i cried again wen i saw my 4 year old TRYIN 2 shadowbox.i hope bernards victory inspires people 2 take up the game.i doubt it but if any1 needs help with an addiction private message me and i would be more than happy to help

 

forgot to ask.who was winning on points?i had cordoba 2 up.said to the girlfriend at start of 11 i think he needs a knockout.some response.ha ha.i was very dissapointed with andt lee.seemed very one dimensional compared 2 what i seen of him on telly.ppaddy barnes.nicest gentleman ever

 

I read somewhere that Cordoba was up significantly at the time of the stoppage (between 3 and 5 points on each judge's card), and Dunne would have needed that KO. I had it relatively even at that point, but the feed kept cutting out on me, so I couldn't score it reliably.

At the end of round 10 Cordoba was up by 7 points, 6 points and 4 points. I understand the champion gets the nod in close rounds because you 'have to take the title from him' if you are the challenger. But the scoring was absolutely shocking.

i loved the format of the whole night saturday...with the amatuers and katie, there was quality and value through the whole card...i love that pro-am format now...
i just hope in time to come, as peters continues to get more sucessful with his promotions...and as ufc/mma becomes more popular...that he never thinks about doing a show with mma / boxing....that kinda thing is creeping in in other countries...i really hope in the next few years peters never considers it..

on dunne...will he get time now for a voluntary defence or will he be forced to face cabellero by the wba ?

on the format of pro-amatuer shows...could we see this be introduced more on smaller shows?...like the local amatuer events round the country featuring one or two 4 round pro bouts?

this feels like such an exciting time in irish boxing..great things are happening right now.

just a word on the points situation.

I was talking to Harry Hawkins yesterday and he hadnt seen the cards himself he had only heard bernard was down by 5 on two and 6 on one.


So at the moment its all rumours. hopefully it will be cleared up soon.
