Who is Shavers best KO? An old Ken Norton? Shavers lost just about every fight where he stepped up in competition. I can name at least 10 better puncers in heavyweight history than Earnie Shavers. Who created this myth about the guy? He KOed nothing but bums he could not even beat Tex Cobb for christ sakes!

I am sure he could punch but if he was as deadly a puncher as people say he would have KOed better fighters than he did.

Well, you can also look at it like this..

The only quality opponents he's faced are Lennox Lewis, Chris Byrd, JC Gomez and perhaps Sanders.

Now I am a Vitali fan, he's obviously mastered the art of stopping his opponents, I am afraid he's knocked over quantity over quality though.

Difference is I am not saying Klitschko is the greatest puncher. Some idiot said Shavers which although he may have hit hard he is not near the best puncher in Heavyweight history.

I know it. And he's knocked out so many all time greats and hall of famers.

    :patsch

Vitali has a 0% knock out rate against Hall of Fame or All Time Great Fighters.

Shavers right hand was far more destructive than Vitali's.

Farmboxer, Vitali has never been known as a great puncher. You're racist and insane.

Vitalis is not the greatest puncher ever. He is not the greatest punch in his own family.

Wladimirs Right is much better and he had more power than Vitali.

Vitali did not KO opponents he wears them down. He could not KO a Cruiser like Gomez.

Foreman, Lewis, Tyson had much more one-punch-power than Vitali.

Our mexican Grandpa needs a looong vacation somewhere in Caribbean. The guy is just punch-drunk since Lewis-Tyson fight after his only knockdown (registered).

Meanwhile, at 97,2 (KO/W) Klitschko is definitely no #1 as Mac Foster was 100 (30/30). He very well maybe the biggest puncher among HW champions statistically (at least since Herbie Hide decided to continue his career).

    2 Mendoza

You are absolutely wrong, man. P4P biggest kayo percentage among champions is that of Valero (24(24)-0-0 + 18 KOs in 1).. That about says it all.

I wonder if this is just a trick to force Vitaly into Maskaev fight?!

    What is going on people?

Vitali is not the hardest puncher ever what ever the percentage says.

He has not beaten one great fighter.

The best guys he fought beat him (Byrd & Lewis).

I don't care what happened for him to lose those fights, 50 years from now they will read Byrd TKO 9 Vitali and Lewis TKO 6 Vitali.

He has never KO'd one top fighter in his career, please don't mention Hide (who was tiny), a fat whale Kirk Johnson, fat Sanders (who he never dropped), Williams (who does not have a good chin but Vitali still went 8 rounds with him dropping him 4 times) or Peter (who he never dropped). Gomez? A blown up Crusier who have done nothing at Heavy and still looked crap.

Do you not just think it's a case of nostalgia? And the fact that boxing seemed to mean more to people years ago. It was a BIG DEAL who was HW champion of the world. Now it basically means nothing.

Blame the media, blame society, but surely not the boxers?
