Betting a fight on a fighter landing a huge punch is the worst strategy in all of boxing.

Granted, it happens, but 99% if the time the Big fat puncher just gets mauled and loses horribly.

Only 15 minutes ago i spoke to an almost heart broken Samuel Peter who feels he loves the sport and knows exactly what he has done to his career and truly feels alone in wanting to adress his troubles.. he knows dietary matters are BIG part of the situation and he is desperate to redeem himself.. He IMO is sleepwalking through a championship reign and needs this kind of wake up call to revive his career.. I am hoping to spend a bit of time with Samuel in Las Vegas, I know he is sorry and he is fully aware of how bad his last two fights have portayed him and the feller has no excuses.. If i get to talk to him any more tomorrow , i will definitely post it here. Sammy has never ever spoken to me like he just did... I hope he can turn this **** around...

    God Bless.........

    He was never any good.

I don't understand why people got excited about his win over Maskaev. The Big O was 39 with multiple KO losses, there for the taking basically, and he laboured to a TKO victory.

Fat Eddie Chambers beat him because he has a modicum of boxing skill.

Samuel outboxed a masterful boxer in James Toney not too long ago.... Got to grace him with credit for that, remember how long he had to wait for Maskaev to get his act together for an actual shot at his title...........

Peter really does have enough skills to be a titleholder if he has the proper motivation, at least in my opinion. He's definitely lacking somewhat, but if motivated and slimmer he could put pressure on like crazy, enough to make almost any heavyweight uncomfortable.

People have often said that his KO's have gone down against top opposition, and that's true, but a quick look at boxrec shows that he's rarely been under 250 pounds against the top opposition. With Wlad he was 243, Toney 2 at 249, but every other time it's been over 250. While often over 250 before, the softer opposition allowed him to overcome his own weight issue, and get the KO more often.

At about 235 he'd be just a bit more mobile and could be in his oppositions face a whole lot more. He'd take some more punishment of course, but landing that big right hand with more regularlity would make his opponent think twice about committing.

I'm no Peter fan, but his decently fast hands and power plus motivation is enough to go a long way.

But to answer the original question, I don't believe he'll get the motivation to where it needs to be, so yes, he is probably done.

Help him identify ONE person that he can trust fully to be brutally honest with him. That could be a good start. Hope you can help him sort things out. Sounds like he may be turning to you for that. Good luck to you both.

Friday was the time to prove how much he wanted any of this. This sort of attitude should have come after the Vitali loss, and the Chambers fight should have been his rebirth.

    It wasn't though.

    265 ****ing pounds...what a joke.

I said from the beginning, King wanted to market "the next Mike Tyson" to the public even though us true boxing fans didn't believe it, he got a "clubber" and ko'd some c level comp. Good marketing. BUT, as soon as I saw King's butt buddy, Stacy McKinley, in Peter's corner I said he was being taken for a ride. I guarantee they are robbing Peter of his money as well. Peter is essentially done at the highest level. I would like to see a Toney rematch, two heavies that will stand right in front of each other. If anything, the fight would be fun to watch.

The fact that Peter did not have the discipline and urgency to train for a MUST fight, proves his heart was ripped right out of him in his last fight, when he quit on his stool. Peter has lost his heart, and so has lost any chance of winning.
