Well except those free left hooks in the first round he didn't.It was enough though. Too bad for him.Hell of a fight tough.
For a fight to be great, the general consensus is that it has to be competitive first. Mayorga vs Trinidad was not competitive, but it was still a candidate for fight of the year. Other than Aguello/Pryor II, I can't think of many others.
JMM-Pac 1. JMM coming with the beautiful combination in the second and third round after the 3 knock-downs in the first. Than Pac coming back action back and forth. It was an amazing fight.
As one-sided as that it's hard to think of but Gatti vs Ward III for example was pretty one-sided.If Gatti wouldn't have broken his hand it would have been an easy fight.
dunno, was going to choose a joe louis or ray robinson one... it was nearly michael watson beating nigel benn or chavez v taylor.. but..i ended up at duran v barkley.. could change my mind hourly.
It turned out pretty competitive in the end, but I see what you're saying. Arguello and Mayorga did not have a chance in hell at getting the victory in their respective fights though. God bless Arguello, he tried, and so did Mayorga, that's why we love them.
Well if you really think about it,Mayorga's stupid antics got to him more than Trinidad.......car accident,**** thing, more talking than training, weight, etc. But he did have things on his side like Trinidad's layoff,Tito starting slow, etc.Mayorga could have won if he wasn't an idiot.
favourite fight i attended was lennox lewis v razor ruddock. ruddock big favourite and lewis announced himself on the world scene with a great performance.
