...seen two cracking fights on setanta this morning...the two tony's, dodson and quigley...and the chavez jr fight... ...there has been superb high class boxing on every weekend for a good while now.. even if the governing bodies are all over the places with these new titles, the quality of boxing recently is great.
I'm happy, The Americans are moaning a bit, but European boxing is flying, Loads of talent coming through, some great match up's recently, and some mouthwatering fight's to look forward to.
proper flying in the uk, its only going to get better as well, theres a whole host of quality young talent in this country...
Yap...boxing's alive and kicking for sure...plenty of good fights out there, both domestic level and international.
Couldn't agree more I've been at prizefighter on tuesday and burns gomez on friday can't remember last time glasgow had 2 shows in the same month never mind week. Things defo on the up
depends what way you look at it, more talent, more shows but not enough tv coverage, i mean the froch vs taylor won't be televised in the UK ffs
In the Uk it's going alright. But as i was outside the pub yesterday, me and some fella got into a debate over MMA Cage fight and boxing. I was saying that, "Cage Fighting" is taking over...at grass root's level. In Liverpool i belieave Cage Fighting is taking over at grass roots level i.e street level. And that is a measure of a growing sport.... But domestically Boxing is on it's way back up, but i don't think it will ever..! ever..! Regain it's status, like in the old days..1990's..
Yes, it will...almost guaranteed that Setanta will show it live. ITV will probably show it the next day if Froch wins too.:good (They're just saving a bit of money by buying at the last moment.)
At the minute there is a lack of real world class fighters in the UK, with only one world champion and Hatton claiming he has 3 fights left but the future is going to be bright, we have so many potentially world class fighters just turning pro, its going to be interesting.
We're getting more international tv coverage now than we've had since the late 80's early 90's. Back a few years ago we weren't getting any of the big international names shown on our screens, but in the last few years things have picked up in a big way. There are loads of young guns in domestic boxing coming through and are on the up - Cox, Groves, Sutherland, Jefferies, Broadhurst, Cleverly, McIntosh, Saunders, Gavin, DeGale, Price, Fury, Brook, etc, etc... Even if all of them don't make it to world class level there's still a ton of potential there for some great domestic dust ups at the very least.
boxing in ireland has never been better either . with all the shows that have been put on recently and talent comijng through .
