They never went out of fashion, they are just bloody hard to land, there is usually an elbow sitting in the way.

One of the reasons that Miguel Cotto is so hard to defend against, is that he throws great combinations to the body. Even though they might not always land clean, they are still doing damage. Those punches even on the arms still come with force and accumulate punishment, as well as being great for bringing the hands down for an attack upstairs.

Hatton is obviously very good at this also. I love the way he puts everything behind that left body shot.

You missed my point...I was suggesting that in the last 3-4 fights: Cotto, Bute, Hatton...bodyshots were not just used to great effect as part of the strategy; they WERE the strategy...these guys were not just trying to land them from time to time, amongst other things...they WERE the gameplan, they had prepared themselves to get into a position where they could repeatedly liver-lick!

Never went out of fashion, its just that some fighters seem more suseptible to them.

Don't you find it funny that there are people on this board saying that Castillo should of got up.
It seems that most people on here have never actually boxed before. Believe me if you have you know how much a liver shot hurts. And you don't recover from one as quick as a good shot to the head.

You can shake off being buzzed after being hit in the head with a good shot.

You can't shake off a body shot, your whole body can seize up as you gasp for air wondering what just happened.

People really don't like it to the body ;)

Cotto and Hatton really excel at this part of the game.

Yeah, yeah...but if they weren't in the fightplan, there wouldn't be a chance of some fighters to be susceptible to them in the first place, right? Cotto, Bute and Hatton made it their goal to use them as their fightplan - they didn't JUST HAPPEN...it's not that Judah, Bika and Castillo have douchewater livers...DO THEY? Or do you think they do, and everyone else we've seen recently are 100 proof compared to them?

i remember first time i took a liver shot, it felt like i was about to die and i was in such shock, a shot to the face you can shrug off just by moving around but a bodyshot takes away your legs.

I've noticed this too... I've been craving my left hook to the body, and it's had a bit of a resurgence lately.

i also noticed the taps hurt more than when a guy loads up, because you anticipate it, i could tell how castillo felt, he didn't see it coming at all.
