Who would win Razor Ruddock v Walcott?

 

I can't believe how seriously underrated Jersey Joe is in this thread. I think if anybody would beat Foreman in the history of boxing, it would be Jersey Joe. In fact, I would give Jersey Joe a better chance than the rope a dope Ali.

Could he take Ruddock's smash? He would have to take it at one point or another.

 

Yes he could take it once he had finished waiting for it to arive.

Picking Foreman over Walcott is fair enough but picking Ruddock over him is nonsense.

You dont beat a fighter like Walcott by throwing about two punches per round.

I would be surprised if Rudock won a single round against Walcott.

 

If we're talking about who should be favored then the obvious answer is Walcott. Is it possible for the other guy to win? Well, it depends. I don't know how susceptible Walcott was to being hit with left uppercuts ( Ruddock's best punch. ) Razor's ability to take a pretty good shot along with knocking guys out with a single punch could certainly be a factor against almost anyone. Nevertheless, Jersey is the man we need to pick in this fight.

 

Look....Walcott, outside of lennox and ali, fought the most punchers out of any heavyweight champion. From 1945-1953 Walcott survived from some of the biggest punchers this division has ever seen like Tommy Gomez, Hatchetman Sheppard, Lee Q Murray, Tiger Jack Fox, Elmer Ray, Lorenzo Pack, Rex Layne. Walcott also took some big Joe Louis bombs for 23 rounds, and some heavy marciano blows for 13 rounds. The guy has a proven chin as any.


whose to say ruddock could take walcotts punch? im telling you right now, on film walcott is a terrific puncher. probably the most underated puncher on this boards. thank god ring magazine gave him his due.

 

I don't think anyone's underrating Walcott here Suzie.

 

We have people saying that he wouldnt last two rounds against Foreman or one against Tyson.

We have people implying that a limited fighter like Ruddock would just walk through him.

What people have to get their heads round is that Walcott was nothing if not a stylistic nightmare for any heavyweight in history.

 

I never said underated as a "fighter" but as a "puncher"



Janitor, I tell ya man. I dont know what you think of Stanley Ketchell, but what a fighter. If he hadnt died I have no doubt he would have taken on jeanette and mcvea and give then hell.

 

Ketchel would have got stuck into the heavyweight division just like Mickey Walker did and I am sure he would have scored a few upsets.

Damn damn shame it never happened.

You could be right, but based on the outcomes of their actual matches, I happen to think that I prime Joe Louis of 10 years earlier would have beaten Walcott pretty badly. The man who Jersey actually fought was a far cry from the man who was easily going through giant all time greats like they were made of melted butter.

 

So that's not a one punch KO, Marciano landed several hooks before he got Louis against the ropes, Louis was obviously hurt and tired before he went down, and had already been knocked down. It wasn't a one punch knock out. And it was also after 7 rounds of punishment.

 

Walcott, probably by a shutout...in my opinion.
