When they say that boxing is 80% mental they ain't kidding. The confidence of Roy Jones was shattered by Tarver/Johnson - it astounds me people can't see how utterly petrified and scared shitless Roy was in Tarver III (and subsequently after that). Nowadays the least bit of adversity makes Roy go belly up. I hate to say it, but the man is ****ing gutless at this point. Anyway... Mundine was making Kessler look plain stupid with his sporadic RJJ impersonation... It's crystal clear from here that Kessler couldn't handle a 100% Roy Jones.
Kessler does do the same thing over and over and over. He is the mini version of Wlad Klitoris. But that one thing is good enough to beat this version of Roy. Roy would for sure have his moments and win rounds. But once he starts playing that shell up lean back against the ropes bull**** he is going to catch something down the middle. Jones shells up about 30-50 seconds every round b/c he cant fight the whole 12.
Yeah. Like I said, robotic. He's got the entire machine like european stand up style down pat. Yes, I agree he'd win a majority of the fights between him and Jones, but Jones is still a dangerous combination of speed and power. Not to mention that 20 plus years of boxing experience behind him.
I just think that Jones still has the tools to beat Kessler even past his best. He just needs have confidence against Kessler and stay off the ropes.
Kessler 75/25 ... Guys I think you are delusional, the only reason Jones looked like superman is because there was a punching bag in front of him...
Roy would be tired after about 4 rounds then Kessler would finish him. People hoping to see a version of Roy that's been gone for years!:smoke
Kessler would eat his lunch. Kessler's lack of a left? Roy can;t pull the trigger any more. If Kessler beats you to the jab he can get his left hook/ right cross combinations working. Simple but effective. If he is allowed to operate at his favored distance it is a meat grinder that will stop Jones inside 7.
Anybody who doesn't think that Kessler would clean Roy's clock hasn't been watching boxing the last five years.
I have to agree Jones should just retire .He beat Sheika (although he was a shell of his former self )go out with the W ..But if Kessler is willing to do it than bring it on !! Right now Kessler needs all the publicity he can get !
