http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usLgKhVvpgs&feature=player_embedded Insane speed. I guess that was at a lighter weight though(130?). So how fast will Manny be when he fights Hatton? Will it be a big advantage? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKPDeMXiJHc&feature=channel_page
He's been much better off moving up in weight though. Carries speed and power, maybe better than his last few fight at 130.
His combos are pretty compact and squeezed together so the speed is even greater on those... And that power left is one of the best/fastest/most powerful single punches in the history of the sport IMHO. Even when Marquez and Morales were giving him probs he could instantly turn the tide with that monster. It's virtually unstoppable. The man's speed is unholy.
The only thing that matter is, Pac can use that speed even with punches incoming to him. While some fighters just looks good against Heavy Bags and mitts. But on the real fight....
Agreed. I'm amazed Marquez was able to take it. Manny is one the most physically gifted fighters of the past 20 years.
his speed IMO is his biggest asset. not so much his power especially in the divisions north of 130. his speed gave problems to oscar and david diaz and i think it will also give hatton some sort of a headache.
Yeah, good handspeed. Anyway, I have to post this random old school Pacquiao vid, I've been waiting for somebody to upload it on youtube, and finally here it is. This is his first ever pro title shot, for the oriental flyweight title. Chokchai 3K-Battery (champ) vs Pacquiao (challenger) OPBF flyweight title 26-June-1997 Manila Round 5 [yt]h3bB_tHwL4E[/yt] I was so proud of Manny that day. He was like the Philippine boxing community's cocky little kid brother. I didnt think he would do so well. I just hoped that he doesnt get KTFO and get ruined. One of my top 3 Pacquiao wins, ever. It may not seem like much now, but back then, this was the pinnacle of his career. A green, brave little kid against the oriental champion of 4 years. A legit boxing title, even if only a regional one. This upset win was huge. All he had at the time was fighting spirit, some speed and power. He had little punch resistance and endurance/stamina. He was a late round KO waiting to happen. btw, they got his age wrong there. Pac admitted that he doctored his birth certificate to be able to turn pro early. He was actually under 20 years old at the time. Sorry for the off topic video post.
When Pacquiao gets in the ring, his handspeed isn't all that special - in my view. He's not a good combination puncher, at all. Meldrick Taylor? That guy looked like bad animation in training AND in competitive title fights.
