I would grade Pov's performance a C. It wasn't great but not as bad as some say, and he noticeably improved as the fight went on which makes me think a lot of his long absence from the ring.

    He showed some classy moves.

I still think he has some sort of trouble seeing right hands coming more than any other punch. It's the shot he gets caught with 70% of the time, he picks off jabs and hooks well and gets caught by the occasional uppercut which is expected for a fighter of his style..but those rights are a problem. I think facing these fast handed guys has made this problem evident.

I'd like to see him against a different style now. He's fought too many of these smaller, quick handed guys that lack power lately with Byrd, Donald, Chambers and now Estrada. The problem is they don't REALLY punish him for defensive errors because they don't hurt him, he is getting into bad habits. Time for something new...Valuev would be nice! Or Chagaev.

by the way Povetkin stated that he was quite content with today's performance against Estrada.

Dimitrenko is just the right and only fight to prepare him best for a fight vs. Wlad...not that it would guarantee him a a win vs. Wlad but still a good chance if he figures out this style of fighting big man with a similar style... :bbb

I would hope the lay off had something to do with Povetkin's performance in his win over Estrada. I'm not very impressed with someone who is a potential contender for the title if he can't do more damage to a fighter like Estrada. If Estrada won, would he be getting a shot at the title?!?!:| I'm truly sick to my stomach over the state of the heavyweight division. What a fu**ing joke.

I agree with everything you say here. It was fun to watch. Pianeta showed he has a good chin and loads of heart, the opposite from what I expected.

Some rounds were very close but I gave the edge to the Russian. Solid performance by Estrada, he had his moments but he lost clearly.
