Could khans chin improve?

    I know this is another thread about Khans chin but hear me out

    I think we can all agree that khans chin is awful but i believe going up in weight could really help his punch resistance, an example of this is when Cotto moved up a weight and could take a punch better

    On the other hand it could get worse and he could routinely get wobbled by jabs.

    Imo Khan is a natural WELTERWEIGHT and boiling down to the limit of lightweight has an awful affect on what would be usually an average if not slightly suspect chin, moving up to LWW khan will be able to rehydrate to his natural weight much easyer.

    Thoughts?

    maybe if he does shaolin chin training, otherwise i don't think moving up in weight will change much.

    He can, needs to change his body shape. Wont improve greatly, he'll always have a dodgy chin. He should learn how to deal with being knocked down so he doesnt rush back into combat

    His chin is just awful, and will remain so throughout his career.

    Defence can be improved, and with some safe matchmaking will probably see him through alright...... but anybody with respectable power at world level will KO his ass.

    Limond had average power at British level and in truth won by stoppage.... only some dodgy refereeing saved him on that occasion.

    No, won't make any difference. He's been wobbled by too light punchers to suggest any added weight is going to help him. Guys with 8 KO's knocking him down for 10, in the amateurs when he was smaller and made lightweight easy he did the chicken dance.

    Even if it does "improve" you will not notice it as any benefit will be outweighed against harder punchers.

    It's not going to get worse, though.

    i always thought one of the biggest reasons for khans chin was he never even seems to expect the punches......sometimes in his fights its clear a guy is going to throw say a left hook, and amir looks amazed to be hit.....for people coming to boxing late or increasingly nowadays guys starting to fight amateur in their 20s for the experience its the sensation of being punched in the face. the shock of the feeling is the biggest thing to get over and once someone is tagged solidly and they realise the experience their ability to take punches increases greatly. amir looks not always hurt greatly by taking punches but stunned and shocked, the jab in the prescott fight example

    Yes I think his chin will improve at 140, think of like this Khan has been at 135 (Ams 133) for 5 growing years and at 5'10 making 135 he must of been training like a madman. I think he has 'weight drained' for a fews years now, and moving to 140 is a smart move. Khan has got some skinny legs to start off with, Roach's team have tried to reshape his body by moving weight down to Khan's legs, but now they will have 5 pounds more to work with and i think Khan will make the weight better, even improve his power, fittness, improve his chin, i dont think his chin will get worse it can only improve.

    On the physical side. they said they were moving more muscle into his legs to give him greater stability, and he does a lot of neck workouts. But in moving up, he will be taking harder shots. Though I can't imagine seeing Khan in the ring with Holt or Torres (OR HATTON) anytime without him getting KO'd.

    not that his chin will get worse per say, its the problem for amir that the guys at 140 hit much much harder than blown up super feather weights....

    hes been fighting blown up feathers such as ***an and limond, gomez and now he could be fighting boiled down welterweights. one of his greatest assets at lightweight was his reach to fend off smaller guys, now he as surrendered that

    You can actually improve chins a bit, build up the neck muscles more and so on.

    Mainly though - no, not really. What he can do most is learn how to protect it better.
    ie don't rush headlong onto good punchers.
