Agree with that...if Ricky Hatton was from London he wouldn't have half the following he has now...

i'll go with kahn too after hatton too. i agree with the football-like following some local boys get too, derry matthews was getting a good fan base in liverpool until choi ****ed him up, his uncle (or something like that, he's family anyway) had a load of posters of derry up on his market stall near where my ex lives and a day or 2 after he got battered by choi he ****ing took them down! haha how **** is that? i thought these scousers stuck by each other! family too for ****s sake haha. quiqley and dodson get a good reception down there and i reckon price will too. michael jennings, gomez, craig watson and mathew hall all have a decent fan base and would sell out any manc arena for a big fight. haye's seems to be wilting a little tho...for all the support he gets on here and elsewhere i hear they struggled in their last promotion, when they were doing the 2 for 1 ticket offer, didnt only 9,000 or so turn up at the o2? thats only half paying aint it, not so good that dave.and none of them could sell out like eubank v benn. we need proper domestic rivalries like that again, not the bull**** fighters these days try to build up fights. anthony smalls pathetic whinging and goading on facebook over ryan rhodes LEGITEMATELY pulling out of there fight springs to mind.

Don't think we're not gratefull but you guys can afford it, everytime I go for a drink in London I bump into plasterers and builders who are making 300,000 quid a year, snorting their own bodyweight in coke and shagging super models every night. It must be a great life!!!

oakey coulnt fill a 10k arena with no undercard but khan could and i have to say rogan may well be able to soon as the irish are very loyal fans and would go to the opening of an envelope if it was irish,
i do have to say though that the one experience i have had of oiakey fans was a great one atthe prizefighter tourny 1600 people doing the oakey cokey beer flying eveerywhere but not an argument to be seen it was bloody hilarious and made the night

    :yep

very true, rogan sold close to 1000 tickets in the first 2 hours of going on sale which isnt too bad.

hes also known for acting as well, he's in a movie called 'man about dog' in which he plays a large thug with some cracking lines

"sure **** off, we paid you double"

(rogan steps forward agressively eyeballing the guy)

"would you like me to bite his nose off Mr McCallion?"

    check it out

Irelands Bernard Dunne outsells everyone other than Hatton bar maybe Khan and Haye if they are in big fights

Dunne could get 20,000 against a binman* if we had the facilities.

10,000 v Cordoba and there was no buzz about him then compared to now. Dunne has huge pulling power, similar to Hatton or Calzaghe in their nations but given the population of Ireland and the lack of a venue that holds say 30,000 he has to do the O2 in Dublin or maybe Landsdowne or Croke Park which are 60k and 80k + venues

If it is Khan - and it might very well be - it just shows how big the gulf is between 'man of the people' Hatton and the rest.

Khan had to box in a curtained off arena v Prescott in front of only a few thousand.

Then again, not sure how many were there for Barrera. But a proportion of the boxing fans who were there will have been to see Barrera, not Khan.

Haye doesn't shift many. Froch v Pascal did five figures.

Has to be khan after all he is a household name because of his success at the Olympics and the terrestial coverage on ITV. Near me 3 year old kids know who Amir Khan is, but wouldnt know who Hatton, Haye and Calazaghe were becuase of their lack of terrestial coverage. Haye was on BBC originally for a period of time...
