A bit of perspective on P.Williams

  1. Now I don't want this to get into a Euro vs U.S slanging match.

But this always seems to happen when an American boxer gets a decent win, they get hyped and shooted up in the P4P rankings.

We have had posters on here saying that Williams is top 5 p4p , "is Williams special" "P.Williams is in the top two in the world"

But I would like to bring a bit of perspetive into the ring.

    His biggest wins are-

Quintana- A decent win but Quintana is no where near p4p material and imo is a contender/gatekeeper type of boxer, still a good win over a solid guy.....Plus he also has a loss to this guy

Margarito- A good name, and a good win against a some what overhyped Margarito...... But the win is devalued as there are another 4 men who have beaten him.

Winky Wright- A massive name to have on your record...... but seriously you have to take it with a pinch of salt, the guy has been inactive for 2 years and is nowhere the same boxer he was, and is nowhere near to top p4p ranked guys

Add to that he has only ever won the WBO title he has yet to prove to me he is top 10 p4p material.

Beating a semi-retired Winky gets you to p4p 5? .. Crazy. He's only a two weight champ and Ricky Hatton gets slagged off for only being a two weight champ.

Its total hypocrisy of the highest level.

I think he deserves to be in a top 10. I believe he did even prior to this victory, over Caballero.

I personally had Williams at 11.. Do you agree with him being pumped up to 5 for this win? I know p4p lists should be taken with a pinch of salt but I feel its far to high.

I wouldn't put him in a top 5 simply because there are 5 names that clearly deserve to be above him.

If he keeps fighting top fighters between 147-160 and winning we'll have no choice but to bump him up. It's damn impressive and rarely done.

Should be a lock for top 10 imo. Whether you rate him or not you have got to be impressed by his attitude the guy will fight anyone boxing needs more top fighters like this.

  7. I wouldn't have him in the top 10 yet imo

    What are your 10?

  9. I like the guy but attitude doesn't get you in the top 10 boxers in the world.

If you look at the guys in and around the top 10 does his resume stand up to these guys....... the answer is a resounding no

He certainly deserves to be in the top 10 p4p. Quite possibly top 5. He's fighting at different weight classes beating up good fighters. Verno was a champ who decided to give up his belt since the IBF wouldn't sanction the fight. If the IBF didn't hate Paul would be the 154 IBF light middleweight champ. Paul is proving that whatever the weight he can do his thing, that's the definition of pound for pound. This isn't some hypothetical stuff, he's showing and proving.

He's top 10 now. Was in a lot of people's top ten's before. Not top 5 just yet.
