I think good luck to the guy. He's unproven as yet, but he might just have a chance - and let's face it, we could do with some more interest in the heavyweight division. Be interesting to see him fight up a class quite soon. I don't really understand why it seems a lot of people look forward to him failing.
Thats one of the oldest cliche's in the book imo and I dont believe it for one second. I always hear about the brits love to see their man fail but why is it then we still hear southern brits ramble on over 40 years later how wonerful it was to win the world cup Arrogance is perhaps accepted in boxing once you've earned it but theres no point in mouthing off when all you've done is KO'd a couple of pub landlords, a builder and a painter. Fury already had the support of the british public when he was letting his fists do the talking so as the old saying goes. "if it aint broken dont fix it"
i know the fight barely started before it was over but watching that youtube im not 100% convinced that ellis actually threw a single punch! he just couldnt get past furys ridiculous reach - what a weapon to have. and i disagree with the people that said hes still in as bad a shape as before - i think there is a small improvement from the previous month in his physique. i have to say tho, he didnt seem to land any great shots on ellis - so i would move towards the idea that ellis just couldnt be bothered rather than that was a great displayu of power. good prospect though and seemingly willing to take on anyone - in the froch and haye mould - my favourite type of boxer.
Would like it to be Tye Fields :yep Will probably be just an American journeyman who doesn't have a very good record, because they don't know how Fury will adapt to being in America, considering he will not have long there before the fight.
Fair enough. I did search for Fury and realised no one posted it, so I'll be adding +1 to it's views. There are loads of reasons Fury is popular, fighting better than usual opposition, confidence, name... I agree though, early days, don't count your chickens etc. There will always be one up and comer who gets more attention, and there will always be people asking why. With Fury it is more obvious than usual why people like him. Finally, I think he is slowly getting in to shape.
The simple reason there is a level of popularity for Fury is that the uk HW scene has been **** for a number of years, Fury seems to be exciting, able to dish out a bit of punishment, and has got balls and is getting some mainstream publicity. Not rocket science.
I think he just has a bit of novelty value about him right now. This 20 year old 7ft white guy thats kinda podgy looking. It doesn't come around every day. Plus..he's winning. Always gains interest. On a personal level I think he's okay. He talks some junk but always with a smile on his face.
I see what you mean. I uploaded his pro debut and it has had more views than any other video I uploaded.
It may be with Fury thathe understands how the media works, and is playing the game when he uses his trash talk. Calling price out before price had fought his debut, and a couple of snippets i have seen such as how price has no chin. It may well be the fury is a very clever boy! I personally also think that although he is podgy, defo getting into better shape each time i see him. Would like to see him fight Chisora at some point so we can really tell who is the best up and coming prospect
