In Wright Hopkins beat a very good fighter who is outside of his comfort zone whilst at a very advanced age. It's a good win in terms of legacy, because not many guys can mix it in the top class at that age, but Winky is the "right" opponent for Hopkins I think.

Peak Calzaghe would destroy that version of Hopkins, a shut out is not impossible. The Manfredo version would beat him pretty clearly I think.

Maybe. I view it as balancing the insanity scale.

They live in Britain, hence they are british, but of that is besides the point. Euros have a harder time getting acknowledged when skilled. Furthermore they get blamed, when not fighting in America. Times will change - times will change.

PS Respect the country you live in, and the people within.

Welcome to boxing. Its a great sport. I realize you just started following the sweet science (that is another word for boxing), so if you have any questions on anything, feel free to ask. There are quite a few of us who know a thing or two around here, so again....we are here to help.

Congrats on seeing your first fight btw....

I can't stand people who can't even try to appreciate all forms of boxing. Hop whilst not the most exciting to the casual fan, is a brilliant technical fighter. I enjoy watching him fight still as it amazes me that a man of his age can continue to defy father time by using his wealth of boxing knowledge.

So 20 title defences, beating 2 HOFers and then going up in weight, destroying the man at light heavy and then beating one of boxings elite isn't worthy of p4p status in your opinion?

then you can take his close, disputed losses to Taylor out of the equation and base his p4p status only on his demolishion of Tarver and his easy win over Winky Wright

Judging by your posts....I dont THINK I know more than you.....I KNOOOOOOW I know more than you.

    :good

Ummm, you have 79 posts, yet you know how I predicted the first Taylor - Hopkins fight? Does anyone smell alias???

(OH I THINK ITS TIME FOR ME TO POST UNDER MY ALIAS!!! :yep )

Are you saying other ATGs did not either? Are you saying that he also did not use the lead right (the SNEAKIEST GREAT punch in boxing), the superhuman defense (ONLY Floyd is arguably better or equal), the fantastic right counter, among other things? You act like all he did was toss a few elbows and butts and that was it....your view is seriously biased.

Tyson was NOTORIOUS for using elbows and butts (and teeth )...Evander is notorious for using his head....Pep fought dirty....JCC fought dirty....plenty of ALL TIME GREATS bent the rules just as bad, if not worse than Bernard. Get off your high horse.

Actually, hate to burst your bubble, but I am KNOWN on here as one of the more fair, unbiased posters. Hell I LOVE Hatton, I hope Floyd gets hit by a bus....but I still think Floyd is going to box his ears off.

If there is anything prevalent here, its that you have some sort of ire or vendetta against Bernard for some reason.

As have most other greats....so what is your point?

    :huh

First you claim that I THINK that I know more about boxing than you....then you go and PROVE that I know more about boxing than you....

    :rofl

Again, let me school you youngin'....

Tito is Hops best win. And he was coming up in weight. But he had already proven that he could handle the weight in the Joppy fight. He DESTROY Joppy like noone had or noone has.

Oscar was a good win...but not even in his top 4 or 5 best. The most impressive thing about that fight (to those who know what they are talking about) is that Hop OUTBOXED HIM long before he KOd him...something NOONE thought he could do (myself included).

Now you mention two wins vs smaller men...but if you look at most of the greats, the all have wins vs smaller men (Hagler had Duran, SRL and Hearns....SRL had Duran....Monzon had Benvenuti, Griffith, among others.... The list could go on all day. You cant have it both ways...if you penalize Hopkins for beating smaller men, then you MUST do it for ALLLLLLLL of the greats who have done the same thing. Anything less SHOWS your bias.

Tito, Tarver, Oscar, Wright, Eastman, Johnson, Joppy, Taylor (arguably...we will get to that in a second), Echols, Vanderpool, Holmes, Lipsey, etc. That my friend, is ONE HELL OF A RESUME.

    :good

Losing twice in whos eyes? Yours? Because in both of those fights, the majority of press row had it for Hop. The majority of fight fans (as evidence of the many polls done on here and other sites) had it for Hops. The majority of experts and other fighters had it for Hops (go watch some interviews on the subject...HELL EVEN MANNY STEWARD SAID HE WAS THE BETTER FIGHTER IN BOTH FIGHTS!!!!).

Sorry to say brotha....but your in the MINORITY.

Also, what has that greenhorn done since winning the titles? Fight the best and WIN (or draw). The kid is still undefeated and is a top p4p fighter himself....so to answer your question (or more accurately, to rebutt your bull**** STATEMENT)....

YES, those fights with Taylor did leave him worthy of top10 p4p status.

(and Jack....my guess is this is Jack...its REAAAAALLY lame that your using an alias to try and make the same bull**** opinion that I already trashed in the other post.....go away with that ****.....only lames use alias to agree with themselves...)

    :hi:

HE is right....using alias's is stupid. I mean, what does that prove.

But this guy above is great. I mean, I agree 100% with him. He is the greatest poster on here. And handsome also.

Good job....I want to have your babies!!!

    :good

   (alias's are ridiculous....seriously)
