Shane in no way shape or form had to fight Winky in 2004, but he man'd up and did it...twice. I see Floyd in the same position. Should he give the guy who nobody wants to fight his big shot? I doubt he will, but if he does...respect to Floyd.
Winky held the other two belts at 154 when Shane fought him. Being that Shane had turned down an offer to fight Oscar a third time, Winky was his only viable option. This is not the case with Floyd.
who said anything about titles?? I'm talking about fighting the guy no one wants to fight when you clearly dont have to...this is exactly the case in point with Floyd.
How do you figure that Shane didn't have to fight Winky when Winky was the other belt holder in the division as well as the biggest money option out there for Shane?
Mosley turned down 13 million to fight Oscar because he felt after beating him twice he deserved at least parity if not the majoritiy of the money which is fair enough,He took 3 million to fight Wright and said he did it because boxing needed more fights like it and he is right again respect to Shane:good
Mosley also didnt have to fight Forrest the first time either because Vernon was high risk low reward.
Some dudes just love fighting and Mosley has that warrior mentality. He'll retire w/o any regrets because he seized the day. :bbb:good
Give Williams his props, he has the balls to step in and fight any and everyone, that is something that Floyd has never wanted to do because he is not a warrior. This is a sport for real men not pre-madonna's Mosley, Cotto, Clottey, Williams, Margarito, all names that were around when Floyd packed it in and retired. Too many question marks if you ask me. He is a man of talent and thats it, he has not got championship heart. It's all about easy money for him and looking good winning.
Isn't Paul Williams a Light Middle now? He should be moving to middleweight instead of looking to fight Welters anyway. The fight would make no sense for either one of them.
Mosley fought Forrest because the Winky Wright fight never came off. Forrest had been nestling at 47 for some time and to that date he's only claim to fame was a lack lustre victory over Raul Frank. No one back then cared about Forrest. He was too negative and couldnt be sold to any network.
Williams would give ALOT of guys problems not because he's a masterful boxer but purely because of his insane length height and punch output. Williams throws alot of punches. Prime Winky would have a very hard time beating him mainly because Winky has never really punched with that much authority.
