lol so we can see fights like Klitschko vs Ibragimov go on longer? or seeing that stunning performance by BJ flores in his last fight for 15 rounds would be fun.
I like 15 rounders , but study's done showed that the damage done to the brain after the 12th round got exponentially worse at an alarming rate... and much of the serious damage was being done during this time.
I understand what you are saying, but rounds can be even as well. You could have a fight where both fighters won 5 rounds with 3 even....result = draw.
Yes thats true its sad that most boxing fans care more about an exiteing fight than the well being of the boxers I mean hell if anything we should should shorten the fights
yea 12 rounds is good .. We still get over a dozen deaths a year in professional boxing , which is tragic. UFC has had maybe 1 death since 1996?
I have to wonder if deaths in boxing has more to do with the massive weight cutting/rehydration/dehydration aspect to it more so than rounds.
its part of it, they do that in MMA too .... but Dehydration reduces the protection your brain has from blunt force trauma... Gerald McClellan would rehydrate up to almost 180 sometimes!!! When he was weighing in at 160! You have to believe that played a role in his demise.
I'd love to see an indepth study on the rehydration process. I bet we'd find out a lot of **** about how much damage it does. It could really open some eyes.
Maybe we should just do same day weigh ins? It makes sense ... I mean should a welterweight really weigh 164 lbs in the ring? And if it could help protect the health of fighters ... I dunno, just me maybe.,
