shane is a perfect example of a guy who should be a star... but doesnt really fit in one of these 4 categories..

    Cotto/Tito = for the people
    Floyd/Tyson = outgoing
    tyson= ko artist
    oscar/gatti= under dog

obviously oscar got more love than all these guys... cept for maybe tyson

by my theory.... if margarito doesnt get banned from boxing forever and can remain top 3 in the division he could be pretty big in boxing....

nowhere did i say he lose all his fights..why are you even getting so irked by what im saying.... i respect oscar and what he has done

I said he is a "winner who can lose" which means he wins but he is very capable of losing as well... its not a bad thing

He's not a loser you idiot,a loser is omeone on a forum calling Oscar de la Hoya a loser.
That has to be one of the most idiotic posts you've made and you have made some.
He was loved for fighting the best, good looks, gold medal, cash cow, etc.

I think he became very famous and popular because of his great exposure in the Barcelona olympics, where the whole world was watching. That was the olympics of Dream Team I.

And as a young pro, he looked fresh and youthful and good looking. One of the bright young sports stars of tomorrow. Easy to market. Tall, dark and handsome. He's a hit with young girls and he's pretty acticulate for someone who's into a "brutish, caveman" sport like boxing.

Oh and by the way, he's not a bad boxer.

Common Fighter: Anytime anywhere anyplace. i'll fight him even in Mexico.

Merchant: Your not listening to me right?

Common Fight: I dont think it was a low blow i was just trying to go to the body.

Merchant: i could say anything right now and you wouldnt listen. like your a second rate bum who cant fight for ****.

Common Fighter: I would have to go over it with my team and promoter.

Merchant: Yeah its like shooting fish in a barrel at this point.

    Shane Mosley isn't outgoing?

I'd say Shane is very out going.

I think Shane was cursed by time to be completely honest. Shane just happened to be cursed by coming into the limelight around the same time guys like Oscar, Tito, Vargas and Tyson all happened to be out there.

    There just wasn't enough burn.

Not out going enough for people to really want to watch him.....shane is to nice man.... everyone knows the nice guys finish last...

if shane talked a bunch of **** like floyd he would get way more attention..... its a human fact that negative is more magnetic than positive

There was over 1 mil people tuning in to see two nice guys battle in December. Holyfield and Lewis did tremendous buys.

If Shane talked a bunch of ****, he wouldn't be Shane Mosley. He'd be Zab Judah. Nobody wants to see Zab Judah.

Shane's boxing supremacy came at a time when Tito, Vargas, Oscar, RJJ, Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield and the super featherweight wars were going on.

Put Mosley in his prime in today's boxing market and he's the biggest thing since sliced bread.

Oscar became very famous because of his fights, his willigness to go toe to toe, his KO wins, the level of competition, his boxer punxher style, and yes his charisma. But Charisma can only take you so far, and I doubt that even 35% of his fans were woman,

People like dumbass walkwithme are to young, to new or too dumb to have appreciated what Oscar did pre-2003.

Yes the last few years of his career have been mostly down, but isn't most fighters careers like that towards the end??? YES.

ODLH fought and beat many of the best.

He fought professionally since 1992, that is 17 years, SEVENTEEN years of pro fights, so out of those 17 years, the last 4-5 have been somewhat dull, big deal!!!

Look at Finito Lopez, he retired after only 7 years pro, undefeated, had ODLH retired after Sturm, or Vargas, or even Trinidad he still would have been an ATG and HoF.

People like Walkwithme are not true fans of the sport, or have not been following boxing long, Oscar was a force in the 90's and early part of 2000's.

Just cus he became a promoter/part time fighter and got older doesn't mean his entire career was like the last 4 years.

    WWM, U dumb.

LMFAO!!@ ZAB... nobody wants to see zab because he sucks... hes a loser... but you comparing guys who are different from shane...that oscar fight was going to do well regardless.. all the promo it got..

holyfield & lewis was basically for the crown of the baddest man in the world since they both beat tyson... it made the most sense...mosley is just to damn nice...

    Statistically you're really really wrong.

There's only been one **** talker whose been able to draw any money in recent years and that was Floyd. And I wonder how much of that was US vs UK with Hatton and how much of that was Oscar De La Hoya burn.

This "Nice guys can't draw" stuff is very far fetched.

Mosley was very good, but strangely, even when he was the p4p top dog, he seemed to have a dull or boring personality. He barely made any noise here in the Philippines, even after the Oscar win. He kinda had a generic, antiseptic, forgettable persona. Something like that.

Morales, Barrera, Oscar, Hamed, Gatti etc had more impact on the local fans here than Shane.

Maybe he's a real fun guy in person but it just didnt come across as well as the other boxers.
