ha. i think so too. but, no matter how sloppy haye is, no matter how porous his defense and no matter how much wlad has improved his defensive stance and cover-ups while he's punching and moving i just get nervous any time he gets in the ring. i will be rooting for wlad, i just don't want to sound too sure that he's not going to somehow manage to get clocked, dropped and stopped. i suspect wlad will control haye with his reach, behind his jab, early, then start to bring the right hand behind the jab and mash haye to bits with the straight 1-2...peppering him with the ever-improving left hook when haye tries to circle out and dart in. that seems to me to be the most likely scenario. i am thinking ealy middle-round stoppage 4-6...in part because haye's stamina has never been good and the extra weight looks, to me, to be dragging his vitality down more...and, of course, because wlad isn't the only one with a saucer of tender china in his chin. but, as long as the other guy can hit, even a little, i am nervous about calling it for wlad.
Oh yeah because Wladimir has a lot to be worried about fighting a blown-up cruiserweight with no chin on his home turf in Germany. atsch Yeah cuz former Soviet fighters get so easily rattled. Look how Americans and everyone else have dominated the division the past few years. atsch Yeah cuz Wladimir Klitschko is eerily similar to Liston in every single way. From Wladimir's Ph.D right down to Liston's charitable endeavors. atsch Oh, and who could forget the always-moody disposition of Wladimir Klitschko? The guy's a Sonny Liston clone for crying out loud. It basically comes down to the fact that people don't like Wladimir Klitschko. Every opponent with a pulse that comes along becomes the anointed one to finally end his reign. The people that want Wladimir to lose will always root for the opponent after posting that they predict a Wladimir KO because it keeps them looking like sound posters. Say you expected a Wladimir victory all along while sitting there hoping that the opponent can spring an upset. In their heart of hearts they know that the opponents are always overmatched so they rightly predict Wladimir to win while holding on to the hope that someone can upset him. Next in line is David Haye and instead of the safe Wlad picks you've got delusional people openly pickig Haye to win. Right now he is the "chosen one" and after him it'll be Dimitrenko, who if you have seen is nothing special, or Arreola, who is solid but not in the stratosphere of either Klitschko.
This fight is a mismatch, it's a shame that we have to listen to Haye's dirrhea of the mouth for so long. Vlad will knock Haye out, but the children have taken the bait. They said Gomez would KO Vitali. They picked Peter to beat Vitali. They picked Brewster, Thompson, Austin, Rahman, etc. Silly children. "Children of the Scorn"
I agree, never compare them fightwise, I like what Haye is doing, boxing needs him and I hope that he will win. Ali and Liston are two legends, I doubt these two will be that. The heavyweight division is a joke today. The Predator
To be quite honest, Wladimir, the heavy favorite is the more likeable fighter here. Granted, that is just my opinion but the truth is that Wladimir Klitschko is not some menacing figure like Sonny Liston. Moreover, he's not some cocky kid like Haye is. He's a true gentleman and he's a highly-skilled fighter who fights in a calculating manner much to the chagrin of many boxing fans. Klitschko produces big KO's but usually after nondescript rounds which have preceded them and have given detractors ammunition for criticism. It's not Wladimir's personality that makes him a menacing Goliath who needs to be slayed. Rather, it's his methodical dismantling of opponents that has made him an unwelcome champion by many in the media and the general public. Not enough blood and guts in the ring. Not enough action in their opinions. So David Haye plays to the whole "robotic" thing. He becomes the mouthpiece for the media in a way, saying what journalists and critics have said for a while now. No chin, boring, robotic, weak opposition, weak division with watered-down champions, etc. The problem is that the critics don't have to step into the ring with Wladimir. David Haye has to and when he does, he'll find it to be the smallest and most confining place he could ever imagine. He'll soon find out why Wladimir's fights aren't competitive affairs. He'll find out that Wladimir is a master of controlling the ring and as a result, the fight itself. He'll find out that Wladimir's jab is the equivalent to a power punch and is probably harder than any punch he's ever taken. That is, mind you, the jab I'm talking about. All the talk in the world won't beat poise and consistency and Wladimir has both in abundance. David Haye may just be lightning but lightning is quick and fleeting. Wladimir Klitschko is the real storm here. I didn't want to believe it for a long time but he made me believe it.
