to all donaire fans, do you think raul martinez is a tough customer for him and a 'live' underdog for nonito?
i'd say he's a live underdog.....very live infact, he's not a big puncher but he picks his shots well and he has some pop, he's a good young, undefeated up and comer, it'll be a very good test...his biggest outside of Vic IMO here's his last fight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9aYpvAfbh8
I remember the kid early in his career, one or two fights I saw of him and he showed smart agression and very good power vs. the low-level competition, a very promising talent. Then he moved down in weight and seemingly lost power and the buzz around him, at least I didn't hear his name that often. Then he knocked out Proa in one in November, a fight I just saw on YT, so I guess he's back on track, the power is there, so he's ready for the world title. He still lacks world level experience, so it's hard to tell his chances vs. the division's best, but he's a technically sound, aggressive, exciting fighter, so a good fight is guaranteed. For me, this fight will tell how good he really is. If he can pull it off in The Philippines (after the Darchinyan-Gorres fight, he might find the ref and the judges against him), I think we'll have a new exciting star in the lower divisions.
Definetly a test for my boy Martinez, what alot of people do not know is that it is in his blood, also with hunger that makes a difference. And yes he has been around but admits to a lack of experience in his interviews, so he is well aware. He already beat the colombians. But who ever fights best that night will win, but my money is Cobrita.
