alot of people see the key to this fight being the jabbing contest who imposes there will . thing is Kessler is pretty much superior in every phyical department except power IMO. thing is Kessler is more skilled ,faster and just as big if not bigger than KP and would more then likely beat him....

HOWEVER!!! in Kessler one loss it was high activity , straight punching and body work that beat him . 2 of wich KP does very well.

With KP punching as straight as an arrow Kessler won't seem as quick.( Calzaghe notcied that MK was beating him to the punch because he was punching straighter so he stopped his looping flurries and straightend his punches out and started to go to the body slowing him down and even hurting him.)

KP would have to ensure he employ that game plan and got to the Body early and often ( also he's get Knocked down at least once in this fight by the upper cut he'ss have ensure he unloads to the body when he get MK cornerd at any point. if he goes to the body in the middle of the ring ( *he'll be put down more then once and possibly out.) but he double jabs to the head ,right hand and then jabs(head) then jabs to the Body he could force Kessler to the ropes. Kessler can be hurt and kp has the power to do it if he can follow a game plan like that and makes sure when he gets Mk on the rope he unleashes hi ell on the body Instead of going for the head shots Mk won't be as quick downb the strech and not as mobile and then KP could KO him around the 11th or 12 round.

i see this fight as 60/40 in favor of kessler but Kp can't be written off becuase with the proper game plane he can beat kessler . he already has 2 of the attribute that were used to beat kessler and does ok body work but for this fight he would want make sure he goes more down stairs then he would usally.

Kessler lost to Joe C. because of joe C. awkward style and HANDSPEED,witch Pavlik don´t have!! He is trowing harder punches, walking straight forward.Kesslers foot work and ringmovement would cause Pavlik problems landing he´s powershots.
And kesslers jab, handspeed would be a huge problem for Kelly.
Kessler is the better boxer, and his combinations are way to fast for Pavlik,IMO.
Pavlik would be hit all night, just like Kesslers other opponents...Only Joe C. has been able to beat Mikkel,AND that was because of his speed and his awkward style!!
    Pavlik dosen´t have that!!

using a video of KP beating Zertuche is going to get you raped on these boards.

Joe C is a totally different type of fighter and KP would neeed a game plan to nulify JC strengths which is alot and just to mention a fact that you might over look Joe is the king of mid fight adjustments Kp would have to take a fight like that like a chess match and think 2 or 3 moves ahead of his oppnet . he would have to have a variety of plans abc,123,xyz if he approched a fight like that with JOe then he could take him out . it's joes mid fight adjustment when he's had to is that has made him succeful and in this instance i don't think Kp would be capable of pulling off or apply that sort of strategy based ofn his previous fights.

but Kp is one determined fighter if the right trainer was working with him say like a Goosen, or atlas then he would have a higher chane at pulling it off i just hink if loew was the trainer he would use the same old plan which is Double up that jab right hand( had the fight happened at that point in time)

true but i haven't heard anything about pavlik having a hard time making 160 lbs. But if he and abraham do move up to 168 then it will be better cuz 168 will have more big fights if that happens.

Over two years ago I heard him say after a fight he was no longer gonna fight at 160lbs. It cant be easy for him. But it is his best weight. He seemed too slow at the heavier weight. Competition is much better. As long as Kelly can make 160lbs, he should keep doing it. I cant see anyone beating him at that weight other than Abraham. And that is no give me!

As I said in my post, "adjustments" can only change minor technical details. You can avoid a specific punch or a specific movement with changing tactics. But KP doesn't have specific tactics; his game plan is always general like "back him up". That's not something you can just deal with by changing your footwork or whatever. Fundamentally, tactics aren't that relevant when Pavlik is storming at you, snapping that jab out and throwing hell for leather.

If AA moves up, we've been deprived of a big fight and the shouts of KP being a ducker will resume...

    Kessler.

The fact that everyone thinks Kessler beats Kessler makes it a good risk/reward fight for Pavlik. He will gain a lot of credit if he could win this.

I was surprised when people thought Calzaghe could be beaten by Pavlik, and now suddenly Pavlik has very little chance on ESB against Kessler. Calzaghe would have slapped Pavlik all over the place with his speed and angles, it would have been something approaching Lacy all over again.

Kessler is a completely different stylistic propisition as Kessler is quite static and only makes small movements forward and back. That gives Pavlik a lot more chance to get off, his achilles heal are angles and speed.

Pavlik would have an excellent chance against JOe at Super middle. Not Light Heavy.

Robin Redi and others ...were able to drop Joe.

Jones isnt even a puncher, when did Hopkins last drop someone?

Pavlike is an accurate fighter. If Joe stands and trades...will make it a very hard fight for himself.

If he decides to box, which he shuld he should win by 9 rnds to 3.

But dont be suprised to see Joe hit the canvas.

Kessler would get stopped by PAvlik, the guy has done nothing to convince me that he can fight at the top level..I f fighting mexican road sweepers liek andrade and Rugby league players liek mundine has convinced some, then Palle has doen a good job conning people.

Conning people by fighting ring ranked top 10 super middleweights home and away, in Germany and Australia?

By then fighting for the undisputed championship in Calzaghe's backyard?

    How cunning of them.

I take the opposite view. Calzaghe comes rushing forward; he's a pressure fighter. Pavlik kills pressure fighters. Kessler tends to box a bit more - stick that jab out to test the waters, move from side to side, wait for countering opportunities etc. He can fight on the back foot, too - Andrade pushed him back but Kessler just kept on with his movement and outboxed him. Calzaghe doesn't really do that; he swarms and overwhelms people and doesnt' have the greatest defence.

I think Kessler outboxes KP if he fights smart, but I think Pavlik has a good chance of beating Joe, especially with his vulnerability to getting KOd with the straight right.
