Last night I was in Primm for the Showtime card and I spoke to both Leonard Ellerbe and Roger Mayweather. After getting schooled by Roger with a boxing history lesson. I asked him if Floyd will fight again. He said of course. I also asked who he will fight next. He said probably Pacquiao, which he said would be an easy fight and an extreme mismatch. Finally, I asked him who would he no want Floyd to fight. He said " Right now, Shane Mosley". I caught up with Floyd's adviser Leonard Ellerbe who also was in attendance. When I asked him the obvious question, he asked me what do I want? I said "yeah I want him to come back". He said "I'll get my wish soon enough".
Yeah I was out there too. It was a great atmosphere. I didnt see those guys up there but I did talk to Vargas, that guy is fat as hell but thats what happenes to you when you dont box anymore As for Floyd I did see him at 24hr fitness last week and he finally paid of his 6 mil to the IRS. So hes ready to get down. He came in there so damn relived, he must've been ducking those guys for awhile but hes always had the money. Cant wait for him to fight again.
So they're looking at a fight with Pac even though he said it'll be easy and an extreme mismatch? Yeah, sounds like Team Mayweather all right.
You know what's funny? None of Floyd's high-priced lawyers have told him that there is no law stating you have to pay taxes. Floyd could spend an afternoon in the library and realize he doesn't owe them a penny, let alone 6 million. Countless people have been tried and found not guilty for the crime of not paying federal income tax. Floyd's lawyers are in on the scam, they make huge profits off the uninformed. The poor stay poor, the rich get richer. A shame really.
I get it ... why fight a fighter like Shane right now ... he's looking to get a big purse his first or second time out of retirement. It only makes sense ... but I would expect the fight to happen next year. Its only right ... as much as Floyd says that its not about the belts ... it is about the belts and he has to win a welterweight championship again. All of the weight classes he stayed in longer a year he's won linear championships ... this won't be any different ... look for him to fight a big named fighter, then go after a highly ranked champion.
I think most of all, this not only further proves that the welterweight division is stacked, but its also going to make alot of fighters step there game up - in hopes to get a shot at fighting this man. You stand to make the highest purse of your career, you're on the big stage, and you get a chance to knock off an elitist.
So by your theoy Floyd would be fighting the winner of Pac-Hatton then possibly the winner of a possible Mosley-Cotto rematch?
1. Pacquiao 2. JMM 3. Hatton 4. Shane Mosley 5. Miguel Cotto (should he win against Clottey) Those fighters in that order have a shot at fighting Mayweather and it will go in that order.
Good assessment, that only makes the most sense financially ... Only if Pacquiao wins ... and it would make sense for the Cotto vs Mosley fight because then you'll have a legit welterweight champion and those guys can fight Floyd who will then be the p4p king again for a chance at history.
Right now we know Mosley said that he wouldn't fight Berto or Williams ... he's not looking to fight anyone young ... you have Cotto who would be fighting another top 10 welterweight, should he win it would make for a huge fight against Mosley .... I just hope they'll be able to do it in Las Vegas.
