Povetkin's in a terrible spot: risk his mandatory or remain inactive and possibly get rusty (and not earn any $$). It's the nature of the sport, unfortunately. And if Haye wins, Povetkin will have even longer to wait. He's so close, yet still, potentially, so far.

Is he ducking? I guess you'd have to say so. He's avoiding the fight for fear of losing. It makes sense, but that sure looks to be what's up.

Probably, he needs to join Sam Peter, Chris Arreola and Eddie Chambers on a treadmill now anyway :patsch.

Ake Per Akesson of ESB actually broke this story this morning. No reason for Povetkin to duck Dimitrenko though. I think it could have helped prepare him for Vitali, facing someone that tall who fights relatively long, but what's in it for Povetkin if there are bigger money fights where he doesn't risk losing his mandatory status?

Frankly, Dimitrenko-Rogan is a much more compelling fight anyway.

Aren't you giving a reason to duck right there? We must have a different definition of "duck". If he's avoiding the fight for fear of losing it, I'd call it a duck. I think he has good reason to not take the fight (which sucks, but that's the sport), but he sure looks to be dodging the fight.

Also: what bigger money fight where he doesn't risk losing his mandatory status are you talking about?

Just because Rogan is an action fighter? Wouldn't you rather see the more skilled/experienced fighters go at it?
