Did Cotto Soften Margo for Mosley?

No, Mosley stayed in the middle of the ring and landed to the head and BODY. Cotto only landed headshots as far as I can remember.

Cotto fought on the back foot the whole night landed headshots but getting tired in the process.

 

One thing that did surprise me is that almost within the first minute of the fight, Margo was visibly rocked by a body shot from Shane. I'm not going to say I "knew" right there that he'd lose, but it did tell me that the machine I was expecting was already acting very mortal. I'd blame the wrap situation and Margarito's mindset before saying Cotto ruined him. It didn't seem like Margarito was handling the post-Cotto recognition very well.

I also think he had the misfortune of running into an absolutely nasty version of Shane. Between the Nazim/ JDJ/ Nard braintrust, an obviously focused camp, and the Jin situation, that was probably the best welterweight on the planet that night.

right, it seemd completely different to me--than what osuna reported--when i saw margo...but i have to trust the experts because, like you say, i didn't weigh the man.

the point is, i was taking what you and other poster were saying into consideration and reconsidering my own perceptions...isn't that the point? i thought you might take that as a good thing instead of me merely blindly refusing to see your side...and i do see your point.

 

It was Margo not taking Mosley seriously...

No Mosley waz just simply the better man dat night,and use his superior jab 2 easily beat Margarito.I just wanna see Cotto get his revenge on Margarito!!

 

Don't forget to mention that Mosley was on the juice that night. Now before I get stoned to death for saying that, I just want to point out why I said that. According to a lot of posters, since Margarito was busted for cheating, he has always been a cheater. Well since Mosley has cheated before, he should also be classified in that same category. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, right folks?

I think the fact that Margo could not land on SSM gave him more and more confidence to really let go of his punches, something he has not done in a LONG time. As Shane said after the fight, the left hook that really wobbled AM KTFO many solid fighters.

However, it must be said, that AM took an inordinate number of clean head shots in the SSM fight. It wasn't like he was KOed with a few punches. Just way too much even for a guy like him.

I don't think Cotto softened AM up half as much as SSM did himself.

 

Nope Mosely's strength matches up nicely with margarito's , You might even say his strength exceeds margaritos. Shane proved that he was stronger then Cotto but just a step behind in speed at the time. I was not too surprised that Shane was stronger then Margarito, I was surprised on how fast he jump on margarito and sustain the attack for as long as he did. Margarito was not strong enough to keep shane off him. which is why I stand by my claim that ,Magrito is always going to have issue with fighter that are stronger then himself, which why he would be ineffective at 154 and 160. Cotto had nothing to with shane win over margarito, shane is just one strong dude, I heard reports that when he was in High School he was benchign 350 at 135 and 140, thats a huge strenth to weight ratio if its true.

 

SSM only needed to land one decent shot to KTFO the cigar smoking animal.

I said the same thing before. Look at Mosely in his previous fight and look at him in the fight with AM. Chalk and cheese. However, I don't believe that he did take drugs for the fight with AM. I think it was a combination of the following factors:

- AM's mindset without wraps
- SSM angry about the wraps
- SSM new trainer
- Stylistic matchup

 

Margo just took too many shots from Mosley, I don't understand why people keep comparing Cotto's shots to those landed by SSM. Cotto was on his back-foot all night and didn't really commit to his shots, IMO PW hit Margo harder than Cotto did. Mosley not only hit him hard but by the time the 5th rd came Mosley was putting his whole body into his punches and Margo was still eating them, you could tell Margo was gonna get KTFO, he just ate too many hard shots from SSM who like I said was really loading up with his shots which Cotto did NOT do.

 

STFU, we know what Mosley has done, NOONE knows how long Fraudgarito has been using plaster, we know niether man used anything that night, and as a result the faded 37 yr old SSM beat the **** out of Margo fair and square.
