I completely agree with you and was thinking exactly the same.

 

But he beat Shannon Briggs and was robbed. It's swings and roundabouts.

 

No prime Tyson would beat up Foreman and ruin him.Foreman never had the speed ,reflexes,defence or boxing skill to keep a Tyson off of him.He had questionable mental strength aswell and i could see him physcologically wilting facing up to someone with the power and intensity of a young Tyson.You also have to factor in that Tyson had one of the greatest chins and would certainly never be knocked out by any single shot and Foreman didnt possess the skill level to land on Tyson with the kind of consistancy that would force a stoppage.Everything that Foreman lacked with regards to boxing skill and athleticism prime Tyson had in abundance.If you wanna know what Tyson would do to Foreman then reference the first Bruno fight.Foreman being the better version of Bruno but the similarities are their with Bruno being a strong guy with a powerful punch with somewhat limited boxing who the explosive Tyson was able to beat up on.

 

In terms of legacy and what they accomplished in Boxing the nod goes to Foreman, but h2h I am not so sure i agree with everyone here.

Go watch the Ron Lyle fight and then think of a Tyson in there and lets look at this fight from an ability standpoint.

Tyson (1987-1989) had crazy fast hands, combination punching, footwork and most important head movement. IMO it would take George a couple rounds to even find tyson squarely. In that time Goerge would expend a lot of energy missing. I think in their prime George had less stamina than Mike.

The problem with tyson, which everyone knows was the mental game and immaturity. Tyson always needed proper guidance. As far as physical ability Tyson was head and shoulders ahead of George.

 

if only foreman would have gotten into all kinds of trouble outside the ring!! that would make this thread worth while. i agree with all of you. but, just to make this interesting... if tyson stays focused, cuss lives and he stays in the gym with rooney, could he take a prime george? i think he could. lyle gave him hell and tyson, was faster, more elusive and hit harder. (but in the real world, hell yeah, it's george).

Foreman accomplished more in his career than Tyson. If Don King had not destroyed Tyson, who knows?

Foreman would batter Tyson. Tyson was a mental midget. Never could win against a boxer that wasn't afraid of him. He also never fought anyone with the power of Foreman.

Although I do admit that ol' George has one of the most padded records of all my own personal top ten. There's rather a lot of deadwood there.

 

Wow, all these people that are so certain Foreman's better can't provide any decent evidence to support their claim. :huh
