Just re-watched Froch/Pascal

it was a war with Froch/Pascal...Froch's confidence and ability to take a shot are noticed...and Pascal just keeps coming at you...it was a good fight...

 

Here's what I saw and liked out of Froch in this fight.

- For a guy labeled as a slugger, he's smart with his feet. No, he isn't nimble, but he doesn't get caught out of position very often, and when he does, he's pretty crafty with his head movement.

- He completely dominated long stretches of the action with Pascal using that flicking left jab. Again, not stunningly quick handed by any standard, but good timing with it. Combined with his footwork, he consistently dominated the pace of the action.

- He kept up a great pace in an action fight. I only saw him look visibly tired once in the 7th or 8th round, and he caught his 2nd wind very quickly.

- He only rocked Pascal obviously once or twice, but got his respect repeatedly using that sneak right uppercut and some surprisingly accurate counter left hooks.

- I didn't see him look even remotely in trouble, even during some pretty vicious exchanges while being clocked with punches he didn't see coming. His chin gives the impression of being very solid.

Now, all of this is taken with two big grains of salt. He has to reproduce his good qualities on foreign soil in front of a hostile crowd, and he's not fighting Jean Pascal, a guy who in my book, made the leap from prospect to title contender in almost one fight. I agree with whoever says that this fight depends quite a bit on how smart Taylor's approach is. My gut reaction says this fight isn't going to be one sided at all in either direction.

 

He was hurt and hurt bad at the end of the 7th or 8th round....lol

 

Froch is a tough SOB. I just don't think he is really aware of the major step-up in class he will encounter Saturday night. I could be dead wrong...?
