I can only presume it's still miles worse than football and that's bad enough. Anytime anyone goes into the other's half it's meltdown over the airwaves and only when you see the match later do you think "What were they bloody well getting excited about?" I seem to remember a Bruno fight on the Radio years ago and it was as if one was going to finish the other after every bloody punch! I may click it on on Sat/Sun just to see how the Cobra's doing but God it'll be torture:roll:
I used to listen to boxing on the radio when I was a kid coz we couldn't afford to pay the sky bill.... or i'd watch the little grey screen flickering away with the sky commentary in the background.... constantly saying please wait in big white writing. It was good to be honest....
The last time I listened to the radio for a fight was Hatton-Tszyu. It was quite good actually. Before that it was Lewis-Ruddock.
I'll listen to any fight on the radio if I can't watch it. 5Live's boxing commentary is usually pretty good, and I get just as excited as if it were on telly. What I don't like though, is when the fighter I'm supporting gets beat. It just sounds worse on the radio for some reason....
The two fights that spring to mind when I think of listening on the radio are Tyson - Bruno 1 and Lewis - Ruddock. I remember the radio commentary of the Tyson - Bruno 1 fight giving me the impression that Tyson was completely out on his feet when Bruno caught him near the end of the first round. Quite different to how it looked when I saw the fight afterwards.
on some crap campsite on holiday in the south of france, was 13 years old, bruno mccall fight, had to go into my dad's car and managed to get faint signal of radio 5, could only actually hear it though if i had my hand on the aerial and my foot on the floor outside, i looked ridiculous, was worth it though. ended up killing the battery too so father was less than impressed
