When you've been fighting pro since 1989 and your "retirement" is shy of two years (plus you come in only 3 pounds heavier), "nearing the end" is a pretty relative term! His three long layoffs after coming back into contention are the things that should actually be brought up as worries, since he might take another one. Ever seen anybody look less ring-worn than Jerry after that many pro rounds in the bag?
Huh. Going out of the ring on your shield as a metaphor for cynical neo-con "Vulcan" politics and... not letting the poor use... health care as a way to... promote universal health care... for the... uh... poor... and... umm... ooookay. I blame Reagan for this. He kicked all the patients out of the insane asylums and into teh interweb.
Well, I dont decide his future. He said himself that he's now looking for the biggest fights possible and then he'll retire after that. If he wanted to have an extended career in his late 30's, then he would probably stay at 118 and fight local/regional guys or some class B fighters. He's looking for a world title belt and a big payday before he hangs it up, even if it means fighting naturally much bigger, stronger, younger fighters. Going out in a blaze of glory. Not a slowly dying ember.
Heh. Sorry, was trying to be upbeat rather than predict his doom; didn't mean it to come across as poking at you. I'm likely just annoyed from Kellerman never shutting up about the "I love boxing more than my life and my wife" quote, regurgitating his Andrade commentary, not interviewing Penalosa, and screaming at Roach about Pac/Hatton. Yeah, I'm not in his head, but I can't see Penalosa being happy fading into Bolivia (to paraphrase Tyson). Apt metaphor on your part, by the way. :good
:good He's gonna have a good career as a boxing gym co-owner/manager, and a future pro boxing trainer like his father and brothers. He co-owns a nice boxing gym branch somewhere in Metro Manila, I hear.
He should stick with training Nonito. Nonito needs a trainer and corner man. He already started with him. Gerry has a good fighter to start with in Nonito
penalosa's social life is like bernard hopkins...very disciplined people everyday year in and year out
WTF are you talking about Puerto Rico is a rich country you *******. Don't compare to the poor latin american countries. If you never being in the place do not talk ****.
