I'd like to see him revert back to type and become the fighter of the Yory-Boy Campos days. With all the emphasis on defence over the last couple of fights his offence has sufferred enormously, and it's not as if his defense has improved radically.

I'm not saying it will propel Duddy back to near world level, but seeing Duddy trying to ineffectually work of the jab just doesn't sit well with me.

It is apparent that John cannot box even mediocre opposition (Smitchet/Lyell) at long or medium range. I'd like to see him adopt the pressure fighter style of his early career - he's got the chin for it and his left hook could do damage at close quarters.

 

Fair enough assessment really. He's never going to develop his defensive skills significantly enough to make it worth his while to limit his offensive/pressure fighting skills to the extent that he has.

I guess fringe world level is the best he can hope for. I'd like to be wrong but his attempts to outbox mid level opponents have been pretty poor. I think face first, all guns blazing is his best style. And unfortunately I don't think that will ever been enough for world level

 

Just a question regarding Brian peters . I know he is a very busy man at the moment but i wonder why he isn't trying to bet shows on rte in Ireland and start getting recognition for lesser known fighters and start pushing them along . Is there an obligation that British title fights are on sky? because he could get mcloskey on rte. If mccloskey gets his euro shot that should be on rte. Tbh the only way of getting the public to know these fighters is to have them on rte.
Also has the eddie hyland euro fight fallen through?

 

Interesting article about Duddy fighting in Ireland in August, but the question is who will he be fighting, or more to the point what standard of opposition will he be fighting.:think

Brian does not seem interested in running shows atm, unless they involve Dunne.Sad really.

Sky were not interested in Hyland topping a bill. So its on hold at the minute.:deal

It said in todays mail that duddy will almost certainly come home for his next fight . Anybody think of an opponent for him? what about taking on a live one ?

 

I agree with this, its obvious his new style doesn't work, he hasn't a clue how to fight backing up and his footwork is still terrible.Duddy needs to force the issue, get inside and use his left hook more.So what if he gets hit, his chin is his best asset.

lads dont write duddy off so quickly he had a terrible night at the office but that fact remains we know he is better than he showed over the weekend he looks to be in a transitional period.

this loss will let duddy off the leash theres no point in protecting him now after a rematch he can move up the rankings without fear of loosing his 0

i watched the local news [ utv and bbcni] ....both stated that lindsay will fight again on june 19...one i think utv said for the ibf, the other bbcni said for the european title

 

wont be ibf yet as cruz has to get his mandatory out of the way!

euro title could be a good stepping stone then he should fight another live contender before trying to tackle cruz!
