I only hope Mob Arum will have a heart implant and forget the Pacquiao-Cotto fight (logic is to keep all the promoters income for himself), to put his top fighter vs. someone who weighs 160 pounds fight night.

Pacquiao-Floyd at a catchweight of 144 should be next, and December is the bigtime PPV seller month.

I think Mayweather-Pacquiao will happen later this year, it'll be the biggest fight since De La Hoya-Mayweather.

If he didn't have Pac in mind he wouldn't have picked Marquez as his next opponent, it's obvious he's sending a message to Pacquiao the same way Pacquiao sent him two major messages by crushing two fighters he already fight in quicker far more dominating fashion. What Pac did is clearly the reason behind his return, I highly doubt he returned to fight Mosley who lost to Cotto or Cotto who lost to Margarito.

Of course he would . . . Pac is the highest rated fighter at the moment and can bring the biggest money on the table . . . and yet an eassier fight than Cotto Clottey or Mosley. :good

    PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER already planned?

When asked about Pac at today's press conference, and Arum was quoted saying 'PacMan should get the lion's share vs. Floyd', Mayweather Jr. answered: "My numbers vs. Hatton did better numbers than Pacquiao-Hatton numbers, so you tell me... so that's for the fans, and Leonard Ellerbe and Bob Arum can negotiate who gets the lion's share, but right now I'm focusing on the camp..."

When asked about why Team Mayweather chose JMM, Roger Mayweather said: "Marquez fought Pacquiao obviously twice, if you believe he beat Pacquiao or fought a close fight with Pacquiao, so obviously this is what this fight (Floyd-JMM) is going to lead to (Floyd-Pac), so we figured out, why not challenge him (JMM) now?"

When asked about the weight of Floyd-Marquez, Roger 'accidentally' answered on PacMan-Floyd: "why should be a catchweight, he fought DLH at (1)45, didn't he? We don't need no catchweight, he's gonna fight my nephew at (1)45."

When asked whether the talks in the media how PacMan beat Hatton and DLH bothers him, Roger replied: "I don't give a f*ck about all that bullsh*t. When time comes, you're gonna see his ass whooped, that's all I'm telling you."

These little quotes from interviews after today's press conference suggest that the PacMan-Floyd fight might be already planned for late this year, possibly for December. Roger admits that the choice of JMM was obvious since all roads lead to Pacquiao, and Floyd did not rule out negotiations, just said he's focusing on JMM right now. I believe if Floyd wins (and since the latest rumors suggest the fight will be at 147, this advantage should be enough to win), I'd say there's about 70% chance that Floyd-Pac will happen this year, just expect a lot of negotiation bitching for the media from July to the end of September, until finally signing the contracts and turn the 24/7 cameras on.

This fight will happen in 2009.

    It won't happen until 2010.
(And one or the other will have an "L" on their record before it happens)

    No hype.

i agree man. at 140 i was willing to support it, even though i still thought it was BS. now? i just think it's ridiculous. marquez is going to get beat up badly at 147. it's gonna be a bummer...

So according to you he's avoiding Pac because he sees Pac as too dangerous, yet you want him to fight Pac in his first comeback fight?

Did JMM call floyd out???? So with that being said if Floyd didnt fight him it would be said that Floyd was ducking him just like ever other fighter that called out floyd and he didnt fight, and in some cases fighters that didnt even call him out.

My best guess is that the Floyd hates know that floyd is going to win the fight. Way I look at it is I would rather floyd did come back and fight Cotto, or Shane isnt that what Leonard did when he fought Hagler?? I dont want to see JMM fight Floyd, I think that he is too small, even for a small welterweight. But not only that I think that Floyd is also a better fighter. I think that JMM will do OK at the start, but I just think that he will get beat up and stopped in the mid to late rounds.

Actually Roger was indicating that Hatton would beat PAC. Floyd didn't care who won, nor did he feel PAC would dominate Hatton. Both PAC and Rick had a big name and presented the best chance at anther $20 Million paycheck. Floyd is going to try and out shine PAC by dominating JMM so he has some leverage at the negotiation table. But he'll have to REALLY dominate Juan (which I think he will given the size, speed and feeling JMM is on the slide @ 35yrs of age) to be able to get a 50/50 split. Otherwise PAC will get the lions share.

I can almost gurantee Floyd vs JMM will not be near the 850PPV buys that Hatton vs PAC had. JMM is just not that big of a name and floyd has been out of the spot light for some time. Not to mention the 2 Million that bought his fights with Rick and Oscar were not really impressed by his performances. I will say this....he is smart and he is doing a great job Teeing up the PAC vs Floyd jr. fight.

I'm willing to place a wager on this if you are optimistic about what you stated. And I'm not what one would call a "Gambler". Floyd had a lot of things outside of boxing working for him to do the kinds of numbers he did with Ricky and Oscar. Both fights took place when the global economy was a an all time high. Ricky was undefeated and was a the peak of his popularity and Oscar at the time was seen as the "POSTER BOY" of boxing and still the top draw of the sport.

When PAC took on Rick and Oscar the global economy was at its WORST in over 60+ years....Ricky had lost to Floyd and so did Oscar. By putting up 850PPV buys given the situation it was MORE than impressive! PAC had the help of the same names that Floyd did...but they were not as popular and the economy was FAAAAAAR better.
