Hatton probably wouldn't make my top 10. I doubt Clinton Woods or Junior Witter would have done any worse.
Great logic TFFP, you're not ranking for accomplishments at all now then? Just fighters last fight? I don't think that Rhodes has done enough but Woods has had a career at good enough level to get him on the list (plus that last win was decent).
Top ten's are so hard to pick because some fighters who look class still have to fight big fights. eg. Kell Brook and Mccloskey. Still, Heres my p4p: 1. Ricky Hatton (May be demoted if Haye wins. Legend for british boxing) 2. David Haye (Dominated the cruiserweight division) 3. Carl Froch (wins against Taylor plus World title holder) 4. Junior Witter (lost his title on split decision after his dad died to an undefeated unified champion. In with a chance to win it back) 5. Clinton Woods (some very good wins and a former world title holder) 6. Jamie Moore (going strong. showing some good power. Plus his fight with mathew macklin was awesome) 7. Amir Kahn (good win against Barrera. Very good speed. Under Roach should go well) 8. Paul McCloskey (I see big things for this fellow, look to move up in class soon) 9. Kell Brook (Likewise) 10. Nicky Cook (bad chin. Good boxer. was winning against martinez until the knock out. Can come back.)
Still though. This is a british top ten and he's done more than anybody on the list. For some reason Hatton fought with his chin in the air against pacman. Hatton always walks into punches but why he didn't keep his chin down I don't know. (As he did against Tyszu) He's still number one until some british fighter does what he has done.
I'm ranking on accomplishments. Which is why Bob Fitzsimmons is my current #1. I find it difficult to rank Hatton. I don't think Ryan Rhodes would have suffered the same fate. Hatton is still my p4p #1 from Manchester just edging out John Murray and Matt Hall.
I thought you were on the wind-up...:good 1) Hatton 2) Haye (unless he beats Klit) 3) Froch (simply put, Pascal and Taylor don't get him above Haye or Hatton)
I would seriously put Froch and Haye above Hatton at this point. Not that I didn't have Haye above Hatton before he got KO'd, in that respect I feel justified. After seeing Hatton and then rewatching Froch/Taylor I'm quite impressed with Froch's defence.
Given Hattons last performance I think you can argue that Haye is above him but Froch (his excellent defence notwithstanding!!) just hasn't done enough yet to get in the top 2.
