Valero claims Pacquiao fight is contractally guaranteed

    B-scene have quoted Valero as saying one of the conditions of him signing with Top Rank was that he's guaranteed a shot at Pacquiao down the line.
    He's claiming the only way the fight won't happen is if Manny retires.
    I thought he'd missed the boat on this fight and that Manny would only be in there against much bigger names from now on.
    Apparently not though - thoughts?

    I'm thinking Valero is delusional if he really believes he's already entitled to "marquee fights only". Sh*t, there was a sizeable group that thought Prescott would give him a damn good fight.

    Pac should fight him in early september and take on either Bradley,Mosley,Cotto or Floyd in December.

    My guess is that he doesn't fully understand the contract he signed. If there's no actual timeline for the fight, then what does it mean? It sounds like it could just be put off until Manny decides to retire.

    Confusing "your best chance to fight Pac is to sign with us" with "you are guarenteed to fight Pac if you sign with us".

    Or he's just making sh*t up and likes the attention.

    They should build a Pacman vs Valero fight for next year after Pacquiao takes care of Mayweather.


    Pacman is an icon in the sport but he's about to become a boxing god.

    I agree - he's just confused.
    Maybe Arum will keep telling him a fight will happen "after Floyd/Cotto/Mosley etc" until Pac retires.
    Either that or Top Rank better get busy and throw Valero in there with some top contenders to make him a viable challenger for Manny.
