Officially, Hernandez won in an 8 round contest over 8 rounds by 4 (twice )and 8 points. Fightnews scored for Hernandez by 3 points. In my view, Williams won that fight by 2-3 points and I can't see Hernandez winning even you are generous. Hernandez followed Williams around but hit mostly air. Williams did land more punches and was too elusive for Hernandez. It was just another example that you can't win a contest on points in Germany because it is all corrupted. At the end of the fight some of Williams handlers said : We won but the fight was to close to get a decision here.
If one is looking at that fight from a neutral standpoint, you can score this fight for either man, very tight affair. I had it 4-3-1 rounds for Hernandez and scored it 78-77 for him. Williams took himself out nearly all by himself, by just being a runner and way too much inactiveness. He must still have thought he's sparring Chad Dawson...
I scored it a draw (4-4) but at least 1 of Hernandez' rounds could have been scored even while all the rounds I scored for Williams were pretty clear cut. The 3 round spilt is bad scoring, the 8 round card is diabolical.
Did you saw how much he made Yoan miss? He was running, bobbing and weaving, slipping. HE was the one who controlled the action for most of the bout imo. What's the point if you are more active but don't land punches? I really want(ed) and hope the best for Yoan. But he looked half shot in there. Yoan has changed completely after his KO loss:-( His sharpeness, explosiveness, etc. were almost non-existent in this fight.
Saw Williams against Herrera and he looked 'Awesome' until being caught. Just shows how far the quality of opposition affects the performance
Braithwaite ruined Hernandez in some way... he was way better before the KO, even in the fight against Big Truck.
Don't let youreself fool you by those biase reporters. Willimams was more active and landed more punches. He outboxed the plodding Hernandez. You are right when you say he did not do much but he did nevertheless more than hernandez and that gave him the edge in a lot of rounds IMO. The last round was a very clear round for Williams, Hernandez was not an effective aggressor because his punches did only land only on some very rare occasions. He did not press Willams to the ropes effectively and Williams did not run but circled. If anything, Williams should have gotten mor points for his defense than Hernandez for his aggressiveness. In order to win in Germany, you have to win very decisively or knock the other guy out. I have seen it countless times.
You are absolutely correct. Williams won that fight. Hernandez was totally ineffective with his combinations. I gave Wiliams 6 r to 2
EVERYONE who either hates cuban boxers for some local rivalry thing, or wants to push Williams, "saw" that one winning. He just DIDN'T. Williams wasn't bad, but got the lesser of the exchanges, in almost every round. Hernandez simply beat him to the punch, blocked or evaded most of his combinations (no, flashy combos on GLOVES and SHOULDERS don't count as "landed"), and got in enough hands to win most of the rounds. No commanding win, no shutout, no blast out, but a typical amateurs fight points win. Fightnews scoring the fight exactly like most people and two scorecards did should tell enough. Hernandez won clearly, Williams didn't look bad but got outlanded. 20% more from Williams and 20% less from Hernandez and the score reverses. But that just didn't happen, nothing more, nothing less. I slowly get pissed about people with an agenda pretending they "saw" something that didn't happen even nearly. As if Fightnews would push the totally unknown guy from Cuba who fights for a german camp.
I had it 5-3 for Hernandez. Besides Willians should have beed deducted 1-2 points for illegal shots and biting his own shoes...
