Why should there have been a rematch?Duran was beating Buchanan all over the ring from start to finish.And if you look at what happened,as the bell rang to end the round,Buchanan was in the process of throwing a punch.After the punch,Ken threw 2 more punches clearly after the bell.Duran simply responded.This fight is on Youtube if you want to see it again.

recently the Cintron Martinez fight was bad, how do you call a fighter out and then reverse the decision you just made. pretty bad

Duran was way ahead on all score cards when the fight was stopped but it was low punch and the referee should have allowed more time for Buchanan to recover & a rematch would have been the decent & fair thing...though interestingly Bert Sugar reckoned that Ken used the low punch to try and get out of the beating he was taking.True there was an attempt by Ken to throw back after the bell,but he was in no position to according to him and his corner..

I still believe a rematch should have been made at M'son garden( which Ken considered "home ground) as "uncertainty" was the outcome and he was the champion when the match was made.In spite of Buchans protests that Duran would never fight him,it's in "Hands of Stone" that Ken was offered a fight in Panama and he turned it down.
The outcome of a rematch would have been a no brainer with only one winner and agree that Roberto was well ahead on all 3 cards,by as much as 5-6 rounds,reagrdless of what Ken Buchanan though...he actually wrote in his autobiography that he believed it to be even at the start of the 13th!!!
