Montell Griffin went into survival mode in that fight as soon as he tasted Roy's power. Calzaghe had this switch than was turned on when he got hit hard, he would always jump right on his opponent and flurry away.

JC might be faster in the sense that he can throw 1000 punches per fight, but Jones throws a lot more efficient punches than JC. What RJJ did so well, was that he was able to throw powerpunches continually, without setting them up. He just fired at will, and every punch was a potential KO. You really had to watch your step against a prime RJJ.

    Watch at 1:05

    [yt]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/mQsTSdCj-rE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/mQsTSdCj-rE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/yt]

He starts firing at 1:08 and finishes the combo at 1:11

In three seconds, and while running across the ring, he manages to land six powerpunches. SIX :scaredas::scaredas:
And they are coming from all angles, mind you..

As great as JC is/was, I just don't see him being able to handle that.

for anyone absolute comedian who think the jones Calzageh fight in 2008 bares any signifance needs treatment.

Jones prior to the Joe fight couldnt even get Primce adjumadi or Anthony Hanshaw out of there...Jones was totally shot. The fact that Jones badly hurt Joe in the 1st round should tell you wht would happen if Jones was more consistant wiht his offense. Joes speed/Power is no where near what it was.

Even look at jones speed of foot? his footwork amazing.

I quoted psot pre Mcclellan because jones admitted he found it a mantal block to go out to infilct damage afte rMcclellan got hurt. He never displayed the same offensive prowess he displayed prior to the tragedy.

Roy had problems with Southpaws he was knocked down by De Valle and knocked out brutally by Tarver, schooled on the cards in the 3rd fight.

Roy was not untouchable at 168. He could be beat and if anyone could do it a fast Southpaw pre hand problem Calzaghe could.

What the **** are half of you on about ? Jones was about 10 leagues above Calzaghe prime 2 prime. This wouldn't last 3 rounds !!! Cant use woods as a comparison coz that was at Light/Heavy and Woods would have give Calzaghe a hard fight at LH. The Jones who beat Toney and Vinny Paz at 168 would literally knock the **** out of Calzaghe !!!

Calzaghe by a very close UD/MD. Roy was fast but so was Calzaghe and Calzaghes chin in his prime was really good and even when he did get knocked down he came back up and evened the score.

Im a big roy fan and i could see him knocking Calzaghe down but id see Joe coming back and winning the judges eyes but no way does roy knock him out.

I think Joe would put up a good fight, and i dont think there would be a stoppage, but Jones wins this

Red Dragon I was being sarcastic due to your avatar ! If you really knew how good jones WAS you'd have no difficulty posting a realistic answer !
