Which is the most impressive back2back wins? ironically, all four still needs one more big win to have strong contention to be in the hall of fame
Taylor vs Hopkins for the simple fact that Hopkins is so versatile it was like having to conquer a completely new opponent all over for Jermain.
Forrest over Mosley. People seem to have bad memories and forget that Mosley was the p4p #1 at the time in his prime, looking unstoppable and a huge favorite and forrest completly dominated him in the first fight and was able to prove that it wasn't a fluke the second time around.
Its definitely between Forrest over Mosely & Taylor over Hopkins.... I went for Forrest over Mosely since Shane was p4p no1 & younger than B-Hop when it happened.
Alright, lad! Yorkshire, represent!!! :thumbsup --- But, yeah... I gotta go with Vernon Forrest (one of the most underrated champions of his generation). As far as I'm concerned the vote has to go to either <Forrest over Mosley>.. or <Mayorga over Forrest>. Taylor-Pavlik I was a great fight but it wasn't a virtuoso performance from Pavlik (Taylor did drop him after-all!) & Taylor, while so gifted physically.. always lacked the mental discipline. Taylor over Hopkins were both Split-D's and genuinely-close fights...-- so, while they were probably the biggest in-terms of LEGACY... they weren't "the biggest back2back, period". Mayorga was the bigger-shock. Although known to be a big-puncher, he was not p4p or near the t10... whilst Forrest had just schooled Mosley twice & was up there p4p. However this shock, esp. the first one was due in large-part to Forrest wanting to go blow-for-blow with a slugger as relentless as both Tito & El Feroz. However, the 2nd fight was very competitive... This leads us to conclusion: it has to be Mosley getting schooled by Forrest. No excuses. Both were in their primes... (Mosely was being hailed p4p after giving Oscar his first 2 losses since Trinidad; though as far as I'm concerned Oscar beat Tito... even while running the final few rounds, and Oscar lost the first fight to SSM-- after dominating the first half-- due to slowing down *cough* gassing *cough* in the final few -something consistent throughout his whole career-), both were at welterweight... & while lesser-appreciating fans of the unappreciated Vernon Forrest will point to the fact that Forrest is now at 154.. I'd like to remind them to look at his age (38.) & the fact that he's not huge for 154 (despite his height)... & Sugar Shane has fought at 154 before (where he got the nod vs. Oscar II & got hammered by Winky... a fighter who while bigger, is not one who uses that size advantage & is more of a chess-player!). Vernon Forrest > Mosely, gets the vote. Vernon Forrest = most underrated champion of his generation & finally, anyone know why Forrest never fought Winky Wright??? That would've been a great strategic fight a few years ago. (Why Oscar never fought Forrest or never fought Winky Wright aren't worth asking!... but will remain an unanswered wish!).
But is still fits perfectly under the following category: Which is the Most Impressive Back2back Wins this Decade?
